How often have you heard a song and thought it was sung by a certain artist or group, and found out that it was really sung by a different artist?
To give you an example,I once thought that the song Fox On The Run was a Beatles song. Then I realised that it was really sung by The Sweet in 1975. Here are some other songs that I've made the same mistakes about. Sultans Of Swing/Dire Straits(thought it was Gordon Lightfoot) Brand New Key/Melanie(TIW Joni Mitchell) Somebody's Knockin'/Terri Gibbs(TIW Anne Murray) Those Were The Days/Mary Hopkin(TIW Barbra Striesand) A Whiter Shade Of Pale/Procol Harum(TIW Joe Cocker) Oh Pretty Lady/Trooper(TIW Rod Stewart) It's Over/Prism(TIW Trooper) You And Me/Alice Cooper(TIW The Eagles) I'm Not In Love/10cc(TIW Paul McCartney & Wings) Livin'On A Prayer/Bon Jovi(TIW Rush) Count On Me/Starship(TIW Supertramp) Third Time Lucky(First Time I Was A Fool)/Foghat(TIW Foriegner) Ride Like The Wind/Christopher Cross(TIW Kenny Loggins) Listen To The Music/The Doobie Brothers(TIW Stevie Wonder) |

Serious, in high school when Diana Ross' song "I'm Coming Out" first started playing, alot of us thought is was Michael Jackson singing it!!!!!! Serious. Even now, if I listen to that first verse, the high pitch, it sounds just like Michael Jackson did. This was when Michael had just come out with Off The Wall.

Here are two:
"Want Ads" by the Honey Cone (1971) - I thought the Jackson 5 sang it "Third Rate Romance" by the Amazing Rhythm Aces (1975) - I thought the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band sang it |

I used to think "Drinkin' and Dreamin'" by Waylon Jennings in 1985 was sung by the Bellamy Brothers.

I thought the Beatles sang "Lies," but it ws the Knickerbockers, a group from Bergen County, NJ that took their name from Knickerbocker Avenue in New Milford, NJ.
