Default Did you prefer MORE appearances by Esther, or Less?

I would have liked to see more of her but with different lines instead of "you ole fishe eyed fool, or "watch it sucka. If they had given her something different to say I would be all for seeing more of Esther

Definitely less, she was like a one trick pony.

She was better early on in the series, when she really had some spunk-lol. They seemed to try and soften her up a bit later on. Sometimes Fred even made her cry. I liked the first ep she was ever on, where there was a different Woody, and she kept threatening to beat the hell out of him at any minute.

That was the episode where she warned Woodrow to put that bottle down, she said, "Don't make me knock you out". The she goes, "Woodrow, you came with teeth, do you want to leave with teeth". I was rolling. I'd have liked to see more of Esther. As time goes on a character will soften, it's only natural.

I'm always happy to see Esther walk through the door.

She and Lamont have a very loving relationship. He's very respectful towards her.

I would have preferred less. She just plain annoyed the YKW out of me. I would have loved to see Fred sock her in the stomach. Sorry if I offended you Esther fans.

I loved Aunt Esther. Her and Fred's comments to each other where my favorites on the show but I think she was on just enough. One thing that I liked about the show was all the co-stars weren't in all episodes so they couldn't outstay their welcome.

I would have liked to see more of her and more lines, but I once read that Sanford and Son was her first acting gig, and she had trouble memorizing her lines. She was about to get replaced and Redd took her and worked with her to help her remember her lines better. So, in the early episodes, her lines were raw and limited, and she needed Redd to play off of, but if you looked at her in the later episodes, her character was toned downed and she was a little more polished and had more diminsion. It paid off because that episode of Diff'rent Strokes she appeared in, she carried the role Mrtyle Waters real good by herself.

I did read it off of somewhere, if I remember where I read it, I would have given you the link. Don't accuse me of not stating from the source, when I read it, it was long before I became a member here.
