I'm actually kind of surprised that they never did a segment on Hoffa. I would be interested in seeing it.
The restaurant that Jimmy Hoffa was last seen in is just a 15 mile drive from my home. I've driven past it many times visiting friends and relatives. |

Hi everyone, it's good to be back on the forum again ( I was in the middle of a home move ). No case was ever profiled on Jimmy Hoffa's disappearence on NBC,CBS or Lifetime. I believe that Dateline (pick your day, LOL) did a special on it after an informant told his story( deathbed confession ) a few years back. You can get a pretty good synopsis of the whole thing at
http://www.crimelibrary.com/notoriou...y_hoffa/1.html It had a pretty good history as well as updates, for those who care. My feeling is that one of the NFL players spiked a TD ball on him once or twice.

The old seventies show "In Search Of" did a story about Hoffa's disappearance. It was very informative, and is one of my favorite episodes of the series. It was made shortly after he disappeared too. Like a year or two later.

Im pretty sure, having seen practically every episode, that Jimmy Hoffa was never profiled on UM. Its too bad they didnt, the Hoffa disappearance was one of the great unsolved mysteries of the 20th century.

Hey everyone. Like I said before, I live about 28 miles from where Hoffa was last seen.
The Hoffa mystery has been all over the news here in Michigan (at least in the Metro Detroit area) for the last couple of weeks. As of right now, they believe they might know where he is buried. At the moment, authorities and workers are in Millford Township tearing down a barn where they believe Hoffa is buried under. It will take a couple days to clear everything but I'll pass the info along. I still think it's a long shot. But "Hoffa mania" has really come out of the blue here. We'll see what happens. |

The barn in question is not too far from where I live as well. That would be weird if he was buried there. Perhaps we can finally SOLVE this 31 year old mystery.

CODIS,
Moving sucks welcome back hope it went smoothly... Quote:
To my knowledge and I know I've seen every episode even though I don't always remember them, UM never did a story on Hoffa or Judge Crater (if you know who that is than you go way way back- Commander Crabb anyone? anyone? ).Every little town in Michigan has a theory about what back yard or public works projects that he is under. I say the Milford one is a long shot. The FBI does this every few years (remember the Bay City dig?).. I guess Michigan must be pretty boring for them. Hopefully if they don't find him they will compensate the people whose barn and property they are tearing up. |

At one point a few days ago, the diggers thought they had found something, but this has turned out to be another dead end the papers are reporting. And the mystery continues for now....

Hey. Well UM never did a case on Hoffa as many others have said. However it would be interesting. Obviously there are so many rumors about what happened to him. That his body was buried benath an endzone at Giants Stadium, which I believe opened in 1975, the year Hoffa disappeared. I have also heard his body was chopped up into tiny pieces and thrown into a swamp in the Florida Everglades. Now they are looking at this farm in rural Michigan. One of the only people that is still alive that has direct connections with that case is the man who owned that property at the time Hoffa disapperaed. The landowner is now 93 years old. The landowner was known to be friendly with members of the mafia though I dont believe he was a member of the mafia himself. The landowner I think was quoted recently as saying "they arent going to find anything out there." Or something to that effect anyway.

The FBI discontinued the search on the Milford farm today.
Like countless times before they found nothing. No disrespect to the Hoffa family (and Jimmy was no angel) they deserve justice, however I believe this maybe the last big FBI hurrah for the case, baring something more tangible than the word of a convict (like dna evidence). Reportedly the FBI spent $11 million dollars on this search alone.Correction 5/31/06-that figure was way off... the FBI stated they spent under $500,000 on this dig |
