Question Your Doctor?

Do you have a longtime doctor? I've had a primary care physician for 12 years now. I like her a lot. She's an understanding person who understands that I've been through a lot.

I still hate going to see her though. Exams, tests, all that stuff causes anxiety for me.

I do not have a primary physician as of right now. My kids go to my wife's cousin who is a pediatrician for a few years now.

This reminds me - I really need to find a primary care physician so I can get a checkup and get my headaches checked. *bites nails*

My late mother had the same doctor for close to 30 years. In fact, they were the same age and went to school together.

I don't have a longtime doctor. I don't see one very often... I've probably been to one only 4 or 5 times in the last 10 years.
Currently, I am my own doctor.

But my parents have had the same doctor since the mid-'60s... maybe even the early '60s.

See an internist (look under Internal Medicine in the phonebook), not a general practitioner/family physician. They'll have a better chance at figuring out your headaches.

After studying and working around specialists, I've sort of lost faith in GPs.

Oh, I see. Thank you for giving me the heads up, Cathy! I hope the internist will be covered by my work's health insurance. I will have to ask my HR reps. Thanks again.

Anyway...I have had my doctor for, oh, 5 years maybe? I don't see him such though because a) haven't had to, and b) I have no insurance. I've had a few other GPs that I didn't like, mostly because I thought their bedside manner was awful. Pardon me, but if I'm there, I'm gonna be nervous because something is wrong with me. So do NOT talk down to me or act like I'm nothing but a hypochondriac. I can't stand doctors who are jerks.

I got a new dermatologist last year. She's nice and her nurse was too. I've had my dentist for a few years now. He's a nice guy too, and young, so I can stay with him for awhile. I had the same pediatric dentist until I was probably 20 and I only lost him because he retired. My current therapist is nice but I'm not wild about my psychiatrist. Fortunately I only see him every 3 months.

Yeah, check it out. Hopefully you can find someone who can help ya! My mom has been to many a doctor who couldn't (or didn't want to) find out the source of her headaches.
