Default We got jipped in Season Three

No new squares! You had Season One with their fresh new little kid faces, then came Season Two, a little bit grown.

But then Season Three had the same squares as Season Two!!

Season Four had new squares, as did Season Five.

How come they did that to me?

Plus, I think that each season, except Season Five, had the kids singing the theme song fresh and new. But Season Five had the same version as Season Four. Grr.

I'm guessing they did that to save money. TV producers are notorious for trying to keep costs down. If they were having some financial difficulties, I'm sure a new opening sequence was low on their list of priorities.

Again, just a guess.

The kids did not sing the opening theme during Season One. That was sung by the Peppermint Trolley Company, or some such group (i.e. studio singers)...

Season five actually had the same theme as season three, not four. Peter and Jan are prominent on the season four arrangement, while Marcia and Greg are prominent on seasons three/five. I always thought the Marcia/Greg version was superior, and, apparently, so did Sherwood Schwartz. Not only did he return to it for season five, he used the same vocal track (with new orchestration) for both "The Brady Girls Get Married" and "A Very Brady Christmas".

The squares were the same for both seasons 2 & 3, but the themes were also different because in season 2, all the kids sang about Carol & the girls, then about Mike & the boys, where in seasons 3-5, the boys sang about Carol & the girls, then the girls sang about Mike & the boys, then they all sang together about how the family came together.

True... I know that Chris Knight always hated to sing, and admits that he never could carry a tune... I think I heard or read that the Brady Kids might have even performed on stage with Chris' microphone intentionally left disconnected... maybe someone out there can clarify this.

I know Eve was nowhere near as good a singer as Maureen, but still, ya gotta luv the Jan!

They did something similar to what you said to aid Chris Knight's bad singing. What they would do is turn the volume down on him mic, (without his knowing of course) and this would allow all the others to sing louder than him, and he wouldn't be noticed. In place of his voice one of the directors of the stage show would fill in for him.

Awww poor Chris. His character has always been one of my favourites, but I must admit that his singing isnt too flash.

Yeah, but the good thing about it was that Chris knows he can't sing, and never tried to force his singing voice on the rest of the world... if Brittney Spears could have shown that kind of modesty and restraint, the world would be a much better place today!
