Default TV Land II?

As we all probably know, TV Land has been limiting the airtimes for most of the 50s/60s classics to mornings, except for "Gunsmoke", "Bonanza", "The Andy Griffith Show", and "Leave it to Beaver" - and the focus seems to have turned to 70s/80s shows. Plus, they haven't added any pre-70s shows in two years. Well, I've noticed that "TheLink" over at TVLand.com has been talking about a TV Land II lately, saying the concept has been talked about and he expects it to get 'serious consideration' after this re-branding stuff is finished, probably later this year/early next year. Apparently, if it was to happen, TV Land would air programs from ALL decades (probably mostly 70s-up), and TV Land II would pick up the "old" stuff (mostly 50s, 60s, and 70s). I think this would be a great idea, as I love the 50s/60s shows as well as the 70s/80s shows. I would be willing to pay extra to get it.

What do you think?

I think it's a GREAT idea! Here are some shows I'd like to see on TV Land II:

My Three Sons (All 12 seasons)
The Donna Reed Show
Car 54, Where Are You?
Make Room for Daddy (All 11 seasons)
The Joey Bishop Show
The Patty Duke Show
The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis
Dennis the Menace
The Life of Riley (William Bendix Series)
Mister Ed
The George Burns & Gracie Allen Show
I Married Joan

Pretty much all the vintage shows that still exist. Sadly a lot of shows from the very early fifties (and late forties) no longer exist. "The Goldbergs" only has one season that exists, which is the final season. But I'm interested in seeing the Philip Loeb episodes (those were the early seasons). Loeb would go on to kill himself.

All of these shows I would tape (and transer to DVD).

I would add "The Monkees" but since all the episodes are on DVD, I don't need it on. However, it would be nice for casual fans who don't have the DVD sets.

I'd rather see the shows from '50s and '60s on TV Land and maybe they could
have the shows from the '70s and '80s on Nick. I can't afford another channel.

This would be very nice to see, and I'd hope my cable company would pick it up.

TVL2 should feature a more diverse lineup of shows than what we have on the current TVLand. Current TVL has sitcoms and dramas, and that's it. I'd personally like to see a few variety shows on (Saturday nights would be ideal) and maybe (as if you didn't expect me to say it) some classic soap operas from the 60s and 70s that exist. "Peyton Place" would be nice to see, as would a return to cable for "Dark Shadows."

There are so many 50s-early 70s shows that don't get the recognition and airtime that they deserve. "Our Miss Brooks" would be great to see. I saw the movie version (produced in 1954 with the same cast as the TV show) a few years ago and loved it. "Marcus Welby MD" and "Medical Center" would also be great shows to air.

The possibilities would be endless.

I would love it although knowing my luck I probably wouldn't get it for a long time.

I predict we will see a TV Land 2 (or whatever it's going to be named) within two years. I'd say either fall 2007 or early 2008. Let's see if this prediction stands true.

I doubt it will happen. If it does, it will only be on digital cable. There is no room on basic cable for it. And then the complaints would be, "I don't get TV Land 2."
A TV Land Video on Demand is more possible I think than a second cable channel.

Something like that would be a great idea. I miss TVLand how it was 6 or 7 years ago when they they had the cop shows and other sitcoms from the 50's and 60's.

TV Land 2 will be like TV Land all over again. It will start out as a rare channel that nobody gets and then gradually work up to be available almost everywhere. I think if TV Land can do that, so can TV Land 2.

There is no way basic cable would carry TV Land 2. Most don't even carry MTV 2.

If there is enough demand for it, I bet we'll see some room made for it.

It took me almost 6 years to get TV Land so if there was a TV Land 2 it would take just as long. I agree with pavanbadal though, I don't think it will happen.

I wouldn't mind seeing most of these shows on DVD, since it's obvious that TV Land (and TV Land Canada) may never put them on again. Sad but true.

I'd LOVE a TVLand VOD service! That would be heaven for me, right there.
