Default I think they should have said Fred was 50 instead of 65 and have his son as 25

Just have Lamont without the Mustache and he could have played the age he really was and the same with redd. Wonder why they had to push up the ages so high. Especially in Fred's case because anyone with 20/20 vision could see that the Fred Sanford character wasn't belieavble as a 65 year old man-lol So was we the viewers supposed to believe that Fred was 70 in season 6?-lol

This morning I was watching it and Lamont said that he was 30 and Fred said that he was 31. That's why I thought he was 30 something.

Maybe they made Fred 65 to fit in with the premise of him being retired.

I also think that Fred looked 50 as much as he looked 65. Perhaps he could have been 57. How old was Redd Foxx then anyway?

He was 49 going on 50 in 1972.

The 30 and 31 is confusing because Lamont was said to be 32 when the series premeired

Yeah I remember during the New Odd Couple, Lamont DID shave his mustache and looked very different.

The THICKNESS of his Mustache on Sanford and Son in the first 3 seasons added 10 years to him

I think Fred looked extremely believable as a 65 year old man.
