I have heard of fillers in sitcoms where the writers needed to "fill up" some time, but this entire episode was a filler.

It's not one of my favorite episodes, I think she should have just made Theo go back to the burger joint and apologize.

That wouldn't have been fair to the other kids. Denise had to pay for her car herself, so that wouldn't have been fair to buy Theo a car just because he made the team. You don't make promises like that, imo
