She was the brunette who vanished from her apartment complex and there were supposed sightings of her at a biker bar. Here's an interesting article about her killer. Apparently his death sentence was thrown out but in another article I read last year he pled guilty in order to receive a life sentence (instead of a possible death penalty sentence again). Her body has never been found.

HEY!
I wonder if that Gloria lady who was so certain she saw Dede in the biker bar testified in court that she saw Dede after the murder supposedly occurred? Had she done so, she would have been a witness for the defense. She is helping a convicted rapist and murderer because she doesn't want to admit she was flat out wrong in her belief that Dede was in her bar?!?!? Anyone have any opinions? |

The article isn't very clear but I do think the bartender truly believed she saw Dede (of course she was wrong). I can't imagine she would testify it was still her she saw after Reddish confessed or you're right she would be helping his defense. I wonder if the defense attorney's just entered her transcript in as evidence when they were trying to claim he was innocent. Makes you wonder if the defense attorney's knew all along he was guilty. At least the creep will die in prison as he'll have to serve at least 85 years on both convictions until he's eligible for parole.

Well I found a link to Charles Reddish's file with the New Jersey Department of Corrections. Reddish is currently 45 years old and is serving his time at a prison in Camden County, New Jersey. It was kind of confusing the way the state lists the charges but appearantly the earlier charges he was convicted of in which he received a maximum penalty of life in prison were dropped. On July 29th, 2005 Reddish pled guilty to one count of murder and was resentenced in which he would become eligible for parole after 30 years and would be released if still alive in 60 years which is 99.9 percent not to be as Reddish would be around 105 years old. This is an interesting case and I have seen it on Lifetime recently. This case is "case in point" of what many psychological studies have found; and that is eye witnesses are NOTORIOUSLY unreliable in murder cases or in any other type of case. Eye witness testimony needs to be taken with a grain of salt, especially when it involves the identification of strangers.
And the bartender wonders why the girl at the biker bar would shake her head in bemusement when she was asked repeatedly if she was "Dede." The unknown girl problably thought the bartender had been drinking too much of her own product.

Two things came into my mind when rewatching this one today:
-The whole scenario that Dede was abducted and paraded around by bikers was humorous. Not that it was explicitly said in the segment, but it was implied. -I wonder just who in fact this "Laurie" woman was. That was almost as interesting as the disappearance of Dede, IMO. "Laurie" went to the biker bar in NJ, saying she had to get to Florida. The brother of Dede started getting calls from people in Florida saying they had seen Dede, but it was in fact probably "Laurie". Then "Laurie" resurfaces a year later at the same biker bar in NJ. I wonder if "Laurie" was either a prostitute or drug user, possibly homeless. Probably why they could never verify her identity. |

Saw it watching UM today. Something doesn't add up. They never found the body. There were phone calls made to the family who they believe to be her. The bartender who said she saw her at the bar all the time. The biker who said he gave her a ride. Something isn't right. How do you explain away all that? and that confession could have been a false one.

Yeah, he probably killed her. But until there is a body, it's hard to completely rule out that she's alive.
Could he have confessed to the crime because he thought it would lessen his sentence in the othrr crime he was charged with? |

This Dede Rosenthal case is sad & puzzling.
Just because the maintenance man confessed to killing her & dumping her in a specific place doesn't make it true - especially given that they never found the body. That being said, why would the guy confess to a heinous crime like this if it wasn't true?! Was he mentally ill/deranged?! For what it's worth, according to Unsolved Mysteries Wiki, his nick-name was "Crazy Eddie." https://unsolvedmysteries.fandom.com...Dede_Rosenthal And, if he did indeed kill her - then who was the woman seen in the biker bar in two occasions?! It's possible that the woman interviewed on UM (who worked at the bar) mis-identified her as Dede. After all, she had never met Dede & only knew of her case due to the missing persons photo. |
