Default Trading Question

What does everyone prefer, disc for disc or ep for ep? I can't remember a time when I traded ep for ep. I just had someone get a little miffed because they said that ep for ep was the standard and since I didn't do it that way I was probably a scammer.

Any opinions?

I personally prefer disc for disc.
The reason is if you have a 12 episode set on 6 discs, i.e. good quality, and the other trader has say 12 episodes smashed onto 1 or two discs, guess who's going to get shorted if you trade episode for episode.
The trader with the most discs is going to be out extra time and cost.

If it's with like VHS or something though, it would be different as it would take the same amount of time to dupe since it goes real-time, or if you're both constructing it from scratch or somethin'.

I think most people trade disc for disc, but if I'm trading 3 45-minute episodes on a disc for 1 25-minute pilot on a disc, that's unbalanced. I have a couple of things on my list that are at XP because that's how I got them (they're studio originals), and I'm not going to rebuild them. So I will trade those at 2 of mine to 1 of the other person's. I like to keep the disc and episode ratio roughly the same in a trade if I can. Or rather, the disc and total time ratio.

I see it differently. I've always thought in terms of hours, not so much episodes or discs and I thought that was pretty much the norm. In my opinion, in the above example, one person gets shorted discs (which are pretty inexpensive when purchased in bulk) and possibly quality (since they may be sending 6 discs very good quality & receiving 2 discs of lower quality) while the other person may get shorted in terms of shows, since one set may be 12 30-minute episodes and the other set may be 12 60-minute episodes. To me , I would feel bad sending a person one disc with a one hour show on it if they were sending me a disc with a two hour show on it. I have a set of shows that are 29 discs but each disc has only 1 hour on it. Whenever I've traded this set, I've only expected to get 29 hours of shows in return, not 29 discs full of shows.

Oh, and I omit commercial times. I count a 60-minute show as an hour, whether it really is an hour because the commercials have been removed or whether it is really only 45-50 minutes because the commercials have been removed.

Default sometimes

some trades are a bit lopsided

BUT the way i look at it is this
the time and costs to burn 1 disc are the exact same
regardless of whether it has 1/2 hour on it or 4 hours

most traders are fine with this
sometimes im a bit flexible but overall that is the standard for all traders

I trade disc for disc ONLY

No exeptions.

Besides DVD is way better than VHS anyway.

disc for disc is the easier way to go no matter if they want a few eps from a series or the whole series. epc for epc hour for for hour is the same thing. now if someone records in a different speed, i'll still go for the disc to disc. just decide what spped to put the dvd on to equal it out in case someone is picky. since i trade mostly celebrity apperances disc for disc is the easier way to go. yea there are times i get less than what i send, i'm happy that they send their part.

Default Discs

I used to be pretty careful as to not short someone, but I do disc for disc now.
Or twice the hour son vhs for a disc.

in example if somsone has a rare show on vhs- SP format and they send me 2 tapes = 4 hours.
i send them 4 2 hour discs or something like that.

As far as dics go, disc for disc- cuz if you break down the hour thing - you'll end up with a migraine.

I do take in account when something is really rare, or really complete- or really well done.

But its a guidelines.

If I have huge lots of vhs to get rid of, I just do best offer- everything is worth something diffrent to others.

i do

its the absolute only way to get singles from me, is to provide singles i need to fill in as well

what could be more fair

i get your 10 hours of shows for my 10 hours to fill yours in

we both fill in, and its well worth it

no i dont trade 75 hours of my best stuff for 75 hours of the smurfs

similar items for similar items is very fair, when traded by the episode hour

Lamont do you have them> All of them?

Oh man I remember that show fondly.
Watching it on the black and white tv late at night, you could almost smell the rubbish in the background.
Who starred in that I don't recall it was Daryll Hanna right?

Awww memories
