Default What were the writers thinking in the Miss Popularity episode

when they had Peter and Jan talking about being blood when there was no blood relation between them, as they were step siblings.

I know, that's always bugged me. The boys never talked about their dead mother (except for the first episode) and then Jan seems to think that they're all blood related.

Yeah, other than a couple of times when Mike jokes with a guest star about how he and Carol have been married three years and have six kids, the Bradys pretty much forget that they're a blended family after season one.

In the episode where Greg is caught smoking, Carol and Mike listed to Greg practicing for his singing gig, and Carol says he gets his talent from her side of the family. Yeah, right.

I imagine this is the very kind of thing Robert Reed would have bitched about, to no avail.

Is it the overall factor that they were not biologically related, or the fact that they hadn't been a "family" very long? I mean, if the kids had been really small when Mike and Carol got married, would that have made a difference in your eyes, or is it the overall aspect that those kids were not related?

i think its sick. i mean, those people who are 'popular' already know it. its not like need an award to prove theyre popular, that only gives them a bigger opinion of themselves.

Yes and then he would write a four page thesis on familial bonds and how they related to blended families.

It's not wrong to use "blood" when referring to non biological relatives, especially if they are as close as a blood relative. The word has long been used as another term for "family."

It has also been used it to refer to close friends like Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, from the novel by Mark Twain.

i guess i will never get an answer to my post above. the reason I asked is because my sister, brother and I were adopted and no matter what, we always considered ourselves family, blood related, blood thicker than water, etc. They probably wanted that feeling to come from the bradys so that any person who came from a blended family and watched the show can relate to the "family bonding". Just like when Bobby was worried abt Carol and the whole step-mother thing.
