Default Did anyone find it weird to see "George Jefferson" and "Aunt Esther" married in the

Love Boat episode where they are both stuck in an elevator for most of the cruise? He plays a sausage king and she is his wife and they nag each other most of the time. They end up loving each other towards the end of the episode. I found this storyline funny, just imagining him married to her when I am used to "Weezie" was kinda weird.

I would have liked Sherman Hemsley to play Woody on Sanford and Son. I think they would have made an interesting TV Couple

You wouldn't enjoy an argument between George Jefferson and Aunt Esther? And Esther didn't look that bad Irene-lol

Actually she DID look that bad. There was no getting away from her being an unattractive looking woman.

On a completely different note I used to think the woman who played Bookman's wife was very, very ugly but she's in the first episode of the White Shadow and she actually comes off looking attractive there. In her case it has a lot to do with the character she was playing. But I don't think LaWanda Page could've transformed herself in the same fashion. Her demeanor was too high camp.

Sherman Hemsley stated that when he received a call from Norman Lear, he thought it was for the show Sanford and Son. So I could see him playing Woody and him and Esther being very fun to watch. Esther was CUTE in one ep of Sanford and Son.,

I can't imagine her being anything close to cute. She carried herself like a man in drag and the face- well let's just say that she was by far the ugliest thing on the Sanford set.

You are WRONG_LOL Just watch the Sanford and Son ep-"My Fair Esther". So you don't think Esther nd George would have been a fun couple to watch since they were both LOUD?

I so agree with you. I have never seen her look attractive. There is nothing she could have done (maybe put a bag over her head) to make herself look better. even in the love boat episode she was supposed to be glamorous, all dolled up, and that didn't help.

maybe sherman and her being a couple on Sanford And Son would have been fun to watch. Whether she is pretty is no doubt, hands down, she was fugly.

Do you think everyone considers her ugly because of the role she played on S&S and hearing Fred call her ugly so many times had a lot to do with it? Do u think u would think that if u saw her on something else?

NOPE. seeing her on Love Boat and her being the wife of a man with money, being dressed up all fancy, made no difference. As a matter of fact, I felt sorry for Aunt Esther in S&S. I wondered why she was always called ugly by Fred. Getting older, I now know why...
