Last night, the CBS newsmagazine 60 Minutes did a segment related to fugitive James "Whitey" Bulger (which I mentioned recently). For those of you who missed it, you can read the transcript at the following link (you should be able to download the video as well, if you wish to see the actual segment):
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/...n1386966.shtml The segment featured an interview with Whitey's henchman Kevin Weeks, who claimed that he and Whitey once tried to whack talk radio host Howie Carr. Kevin Weeks claimed that Whitey "thoroughly enjoyed" killing people, adding that "it was like a stress relief." Howie Carr, who recently published the book The Brothers Bulger, was also interviewed. He isn't entirely certain about Kevin Weeks' claim, but said that Weeks didn't "have the stones" to kill him. Kevin Weeks says he believes Whitey Bulger is Europe, and got trapped there after 9/11. The 60 Minutes story is worth a look. |

At his "Brothers Bulger" web site, you can download his recent TV interviews in which he discussed Whitey Bulger. This includes the 60 Minutes segment, as well as a segment from Rita Cosby's MSNBC show.
http://thebrothersbulger.com I like it when in the 60 Minutes segment described Howie Carr as "a thorn in the side of Whitey Bulger and his gang." Of course, Howie Carr isn't alone. Other thorns in Bulger's side include (but are certainly not limited to) UM, America's Most Wanted, and the general media. It shows that the national media is vigorous in profiling Bulger. I have no doubt that no matter how long it takes, Whitey Bulger will be found. It's just a question of time. |
