So where will everyone in the NY metro area get the new sports channel SNY?

Here in Comcast of NJ (Union, NJ):

EFFECTIVE MARCH 16, 2006

New Channel:
SportsNet NY (Mets TV Network)
Channel 77

Other changes:

Product Information Channel
28 Deleted

Discovery Health
96 to 28

Turner Classic Movies
77 to 52

The Weather Channel
52 to 96

It's on channel 26 on Time Warner Cable in NY. There's already an on screen message if you tune in to the channel announcing Fox Sports New York's move from channel 26 to 79.

One of the best things about the new channel is no longer having to listen to the horrible Fran Healy call games anymore.

I hope Cablevision on Long Island gets the channel,but knowing the dolans it will not happen
