I was about 5 when the Monkees came out. You can imagine my disappointment when I figured out that they were'nt real singing MONKIES! Actually, one of them does look a little like a monkey........

I was 3 years old when they started. I am more amazed that many people in this forum have the audacity to compare them to the Beatles, even though they were obviously less talented than the Beatles.

When the Monkees came out they were huge........ I mean HUGE........... The reason they were compared to the Beatles was that they had trillions of fans. They
were the first group (after the Beatles) that had trillions of fans. That's why they were compared to the Beatles. Not because of their music. When the Beatles came out fans of Elvis didn't like them. |

I was 6 when the Monkees came out. I remember watching them on black & white tv. We kids used to play Monkees. Everyone would argue over who got to be Davy. We use to play Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, Osmond Family, & Paul Revere & the Raiders. I loved the Beatles back then too. My hubby is one of the few Elvis fans who likes the Beatles & Monkees too. I know of another Elvis fan who who likes the Beatles & Monkees too...
