I like how you posted "she TOLD Cliff to go"

Claire: "Ok now Cliff, you go be a good husband and daddy and take Rudy to the emergency room, because I am soooo worried and upset that there may be something wrong. Her face doesn't look right. I know you are a doctor, but I don't trust your judgment. You see, I am a lawyer and I know it all. I know there is something wrong with Rudy and you just don't see it. While I sit here and read a book, YOU take our daughter to the hospital because I am so worried, she is my baby."

BTW I also hated how Claire talked to Theo like a lawyer when she was INTERROGATING how Rudy got hurt. Being a paralegal, there is a way to talk AT WORK, but you don't use that legal talk at home. What kind of crap was that???? Talk to your son like a mother. don't talk to Theo like he was a criminal on trial. Pleeeeeeeeeze.

I know, so glad those damn perfect kids weren't listening. She deserved that. My God, this was her family, not defendants.

Wasn't Phylicia Rashad pregnant during that season? Maybe they thought she would show more standing.

She was shown standing, sitting, etc. Even the episodes where she was obviously pregnant, they had her behind the counter, wearing long, flowing outfits, holding things, etc. Still doesn't account for the fact she was whining, complaining and so worried abt her daughter, and she didn't go to take her daughter to the E.R.

They tried to hide Phylicia's pregnancy, although it's very visible in several episodes. Especially the snake one when she's in her pjs.

I thought some of the "long, flowing outfits" were quite hideous, but most of the time werent too bad. But like in the golden anniversary episode, Clair had some big thing on, and I was never quite sure what the pattern on it was supposed to be... dolphins? birds?
were they animals??? man, you have better eyes than I do...LOL

but back to Claire, she was totally wrong for making Cliff take her and she not go along. I would have told her:
"Look Claire, I am a doctor, I have 500 patients under my wing who trust me. If they trust me, why don't you? You are my wife! Now get your ass in the kitchen and make me tea dammit!!!"

LOL that wouldn't fly in my house.

But when Phylicia was pregnant there weren't many scenes with her standing up. She would either stand for a few seconds and then sit down. And they had the one episode where she was in bed the whole episode.

And maybe Claire felt that since Cliff worked at the hospital and was obviously well known that Rudy would get medical attention faster if he went instead of her. You know when you go to the ER it takes yrs to see a damn doctor. And plus someone had to be home to watch Theo clean the house.

Watch Theo clean the house????? Oh come now Brie, what a cop out. You are the second poster to say that. He was old enough, he didn't need no one watching him.
Claire should have gone, plain and simple. Whether she went with Cliff would have no bearing on the situation at the E.R. They are not going to treat Dr. Huxtable any different if she had been there. Regardless if pregnancy was the reason, she could have sat at the E.R. Cliff was sitting there, why not her????

as for the psychologist on the set it was Dr. Alvin Poussant. Notice his name is Alvin and Sondra's husband's name was Elvin. I wonder what the correlation is there.

I don't think it really matters if Claire went or not, Rudy wasn't seriously hurt, As long as a parent went with her. If she made a big deal out of it, it's only because it was her baby and she came home to find a big ass bump on her childs head. She was in good hands when Cliff took her to the hospital. And Cliff couldn't look at Rudy's head to tell if she had some kinda fracture, so yeah I would want my daughter to go to the hospital for an xray at least. And I could see why Claire would want to be home and supervise Theo, she could tell him what she wanted done and how she wanted it done. Just because Theo was 16 doesn't mean that he didn't need someone watching over him, he could have been doing a half-assed job. So as long as Cliff went with Rudy that's all that matter, it's not a big deal if Claire didn't go, even if she did make a big whoop about it.

And at his age, IMO, Theo didnt need anyone to watch him clean house. She could've taken Rudy, and checked over his work when she got back. If it wasnt cleaned to her liking, he'd just have to start over. That's how it was in my house.

I dont think Cliff would've gotten Rudy in any faster than Clair could have.

Brieannas21, I was just saying that since Cliff had already checked her out and was sure that his little girl was ok, and Cliffs opinion didnt satisfy Clair, she should have been the one to take Rudy.

Ireneparalegal, I had never made that connection between Elvin and Alvin... interesting.
Cliff was a doctor. His opinion and his expertise would be enough for me, not so much as a doctor, but as a husband. I think Cliff was smart enough as a doctor to know whether Rudy needed to be checked with an x-ray. My God, how many times is one going to take their kid to the hospital everytime they fall down? wrestle and get hurt? As long as there isn't blood coming out of the nose, mouth, ears, eyes, and there is no dizziness and the child is only complaining of pain from the cheek, then I think the word of a doctor, even if it's her father, should be enough.
If a pregnant patient of Cliff's had gone in for her regular appt. and pointed out to Cliff the same injury on her face and he gave her the same prognosis, would it be different????? No. And so it shouldn't be different for his own daughter. Geez.
Claire had to watch and supervise her teen son? That's a laugh. My Gosh, when will this defense of Claire end????? No reason whatsoever was Claire needed to watch Theo. She had told Theo what to do when she got upset with him. He is dyslexic, not hard of hearing. He heard what needed to be done. Obviously he had done those chores before. I surely wouldn't tell my child to do a chore they never did before if I was sure they wouldn't know how to do it right. Claire had her fat-ass sitting on the couch reading a magazine. She could have gone with Cliff, or gone herself. Cliff reassured her Rudy was alright but it wasn't good enough for her. What a whiny, complaining beeyotch she is. TAKE YOUR CHILD YOUR DAMN SELF!!!! She was soooooo worried she couldn't even go to the hospital because watching Theo clean house was soooooooo important. Like the house was a damn pig sty to begin with. Pleeeeeeeeze.

I noticed the Alvin/Elvin name during it's first run and I always wondered what, if anything, that was all abt...hmmmmm.
