Question What do you love or hate about movies?

I hate when the music drowns out the dialog.

It drives me crazy if I'm watching a movie with unknown actors, and they cast two blondes in the lead. Or two brown-haired guys. I spend half the movie trying to figure out who's who. It's poor casting.

I don't like needlessly long movies. I don't think any comedy ever needs to be over an hour and 45 minutes. Only certain movies (epic sagas, blockbusters, etc) should be more than two hours, in my opinion.

Five scenes that drive home the same point. Did someone in the editing room fall asleep at the switch?

I hate movies with subtitles.

I love movies that are narrated, particulary by the lead character.

I love a great soundtrack as long as it doesn't overpower the movie.

I love movies set at Christmas time.

Movies with a twist are cool.

I hate jumpy camera movement and when the camera switches every two seconds like a music video.

I hate scenes that are too dark- if you are trying to hide something give us a different angle don't make us go blind.

I hate when movies use too many songs in it - Forrest Gump comes to mind.

I love perfectly placed songs that I've never heard before- when you leave the theater you are like, "I have to have a copy of that song"

I love good soundtracks.

I love movies that accurately represent periods of time (whether it be the present or past), that actually give you the feel. Say, the '70s with "Dazed and Confused" and the 80s with "Fast Times at Ridgemont High".

I love a good sci-fi movie. They are rare these day, I will even take pretty good.

I love going to the movies and laughing so hard tears come to my eyes. You always remember when a movie you see in the theater does that to you.

I hate totally obscure movies. Movies that take you on an acid trip along with the director. David Lynch and Oliver Stone are prime examples of this.

I hate period pieces from the 19th Century. Mostly stuff from the likes of Merchant Ivory.

I hate Shakespeare or Jane Austen movies.

I like good horror movies

I like crime dramas

I love movies with a twist. Especially those of M. Night Shamaylan.

I love foreign movies....especially from Asia

I like documentaries.

I like independent films.

I love:

Biopics.

Movies in a 70s disco setting.

Courtroom dramas.

Period pieces from the 19th Century. Mostly stuff from the likes of Merchant Ivory.

Great special effects.

A really great musical.

I hate:

Convoluted movies, with complex plots, overloaded with characters.

Sudden changes in a character, made to fit the movie.

Extreme violence. Slasher movies don't bother me, but I can't watch a scene where the poor kid working at a 7-Eleven gets blown away after begging for his life.

I hate musicals.

I agree, I like 70's set disco type movies.

I also hate movies by actors or directors to shove political views down our throats.

I love foreign movies- really no particular country, I find I like them from all over the world.

I love independent movies - and I've seen some real obscure ones too.

I love movies of the 30s and 40s - William Powell, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, and Humphrey Bogart being my favorite actors of the time.

I love a movie that can creep me out from beginning to end.

I hate these TV shows made into movies - not one good one and all made into a joke regardless of the show.

I hate period pieces for the most part.
I like some Shakespearean films.

I love movies set at Christmas time
I hate action movies that feel the need to change the scene EVERY two SECONDS as if it were being filmed by a camera with attention deficit disorder
I love movies from or set in the 70s
I hate a soundtrack that has just been thrown together to showcase the "newest songs" rather than one that truly COMPLEMENTS the movie
I love a soundtrack that uses orchestra or something that truly BELONGS with the movie. When you hear it, you IMMEDIATELY think of a character or a scene.
I love movies from or set in the 30s or 40s for some reason
I like when a main character narrates
I like movies with bittersweet endings OR an unusual twist
I hate, I mean HATE, movie remakes of TV Shows (The Honeymooners comes to mind-lol)

I like flashback scenes.

I like movies set in New York.

I love heartwarming stories about animals.

I love most any movie with Anthony Hopkins or Robert DeNiro.

I like movies based on true stories.

I can't watch animal abuse and hate to see animals die.

I like a good tearjerker, but I have to be in the mood to handle it.

I enjoy movies about sports.

Some movies are good when filmed in black & white.

I hate incomplete endings where the audience has to draw their own conclusion.

I LOVE RENT. Did you not know that?

I love chick flicks and romantic comedies, especially if they make me cry.

I love movies set in San Francisco, especially if they're filmed on location.

I love parodies and satires, like anything in the Scary Movie series.

I love movies based on true stories.

I love movies with good soundtracks.

I love movies with happy endings, and when the good guy always wins.

I hate stupid sequels.

I hate movies with excessive violence and sex.

I hate gory horror movies and war films. Although I can take some of them, I hate seeing people meet their gruesome deaths.
