Default List of trading wonders

I read lilhave's lists on here and made me think of something I could post. A list of trading things I have seen that are funny to me. While I am sure everyone has done some of these things before, myself included, I thought other traders may relate and get a laugh or two. Please feel free to add.

You inquire about trading for a series you see on someone's trade list
and they respond with a price.

You set up a trade and ask what type of discs they use and they say "good ones," you receive nexxtech.

The discs you get from a trade come in a ziplock bag, loose, no envelopes.

They didn't tell you the series had commercials.

You send lots of emails asking about trading with no response, you then ask about buying, they respond immediatley.

Someone post their list stating they want to trade but they never respond to your emails but post all day on the boards.

You set up a trade, they send first, you receive their end 3 months later, they then email you 5 times a day asking when you are sending theirs out.

It takes 20 emails to set up a 5 disc trade.

Someone wants to trade with you for 2 discs, they live out of the country.

You ask the person when did they send the package, they claim Feb. 2, when you finally get it, it is post marked Feb. 15.

You buy a set and when you receive it there is 3 discs per envelope.

You make a trade and when you get the discs there are no envelopes, the discs are wrapped up in computer paper. The discs you sent were 1 disc per envelope.

You get a 10 disc set in, all the discs have the same writing style on them and all are the same brand media except one, that one disc will not copy.

Someone always emailing you wanting to know if you want to trade for their COMPLETE 14 disc smurf set.

Someone you traded with sends your discs parcel post, even though it would have been cheaper and faster to send priority mail in a flat rate envelope.

You send a 45 disc set to someone and they claim none of the discs work.

You ask what DVD player they are trying them in and they say "sony."

You ask for a delivery confirmation # and they say they did not use one, even though its free when you pay for the postage online.

Its a person's first post, they want you to send first.

You tell a trader you do not send first, they keep emailing you wanting to know if we can send at the same time.

Someone's topic reads "Rare TV series," you click to read and its all cartoons.

Someone makes a ISO post and its for a set that almost everyone has.

Some people put more time and effort into making ISO posts rather than
using the search function.

Someone does not want to trade with you because you sell, they sell also.

theres a heck of a difference between a mistake, and what many people try and pull

those arent mistakes

i read the original list, and can only cringe, as to whats being said

i have had each one of these happen, and numerous times-- plus many more besides

i cant pick a favorite, but the smurf one is probably the most common, followed by the crap disc syndrome

i cant believe how many people think that becasue i dont list catroons on my list, that i must somehow need them--or movies, even though i have a list of what i dont want right on my home page

the same page that lists my trade rules, and clearly states the unwanted disk brands

i always love the stock response--about junk brand discs-- i always have good luck with them

ya right

i know the list was an attempt at humor, but too bad its so darn true

i also get tired of retend traders that boast of trades and only want to gouge you with $10 and up prices epr disc

and the people who say, i SHIPPED IT ON THE ____ and to find out it was shipped long after

or the escuses for things not shipping

the package was lost on my desk, under some papers--yes i got this one from a person--must have been a messy desk

or my all time personal favorite---the package slid under the back seat, and i just found it there--it was a flat rate priority box, the big 8 inch tall square one, so what sorta backseat could this thing slide under--

and the packageing is unreal at times

i have had 40 discs just put into a padded mailer, no sleeves, anything

or a stack of discs with a rubber band , and thats all

but one thing was missed about, that probably is my all time worst trader habit

i post a list

its on every post i make

its on every email i send, or reply to

but yet, every single day, i get people all excited to offer me a certain thing, that i not only already have on the list

but in many cases have that set, plus another either smaller or larger version as well

to make a trade, a little effort needs to be involved,a nd thta includes reading the persons list, and makeing a somewhat readable list of your stuff

and then a variation of this theme, i get the pretrade offers, for items that thye may have comming at some point

seriously, you cant trade things that you dont have--its going to become a problem

and almost always does

belive this

if youall put a little effort into the hobby

youall would enjoy it much more

and would ahve less time to post that they are miffed, becasue someone will not swao with you

Love the trader who begs you to do a 5 disk trade, and you do same. You ship, weeks go by with nothing in the mail and the response is either "this is a hobby, I have other priorities, can't you wait"? This is after 3 or 4 weeks. When you inquire further the response now is " don't you have enough to watch now? The old adage of You ship now, and I'll ship when it's convenient. Finally after mos. the trade is consumated and then this trader asks"let's trade again". When you decline, you now become no good.

Default my favorite

i try to be understanding and i know 2 things, 1. we all get behind sometimes, 2. mistakes do happen sometimes, 3. bad discs happen

so i try not to freak out too bad about things

BUT the worst of all is these people who trade and think im stupid

I had a situation-- in the last few weeks, 20 disc swap, and what i got in the mail was 20 BLANKS, with titles written on them

EACH OF THE DISCS WAS BLANK--- and then the person tries to tell me

that --- ooppps! my machine must not be finalizing correctly!?!?!

get real, there is a BIG difference between Unfinalized discs and BLANK discs

and the person got mad b/c i just said forget it, and tossed the blanks and wont reply at all----- i can live with mistakes, late shipping, and other things that happen--- But like the old saying goes

Don't Pee on my head and try to tell me it's raining!

i wouldnt trade with that bozo again if he had a million things i wanted, he tried to play me for a fool

Also those guys that lie about the discs that they put there movies on, there is a guy in the UK that i have been trading with for a while for my Bette Davis films. I send him high quality stuff, but i always get low quality discs that only play on my computer. He's a great trader, but it would be so nice if sellers wouldn't lie about the kind of discs they use.

im really sorry that happened, cant you ever forgive me?/

i had 14 sick relatives

and my car was out of gas so i coulnt get over to staples to buy the $2.99 per 50 great discs

and my cat had a belly ache

and then when it came time to mail the package, i didnt have your address, even though you sent it to me 48 times

and then my computer got a bug, and i was offline for 5 months

even though i posted numerous times

i still couldnt find time, between sick relatives to work it in

and in between my burner died for the 13th time this year

and im just starting to be sexualy active again, so that had to come first

and then my car got in a wreck, so i coulnt get to the postal

and besides the discs i was to trade you, they didnt come when they were supposed to, what do you think--i have this stuff in hand when i trade them

cripes

and besides all that, you were rude

and i ran out of scotch tape to reseal the envelpoe

and i had to wait for an envelope to come to me, so i could recycle the package, it saves on ship costs that way

and the postal rates went up, so i had to save up some more money to cover the ship costs

it costs a lot to send disc via media mail

and... if your gonig to play hard ball

then see if i send you this set of the smurfs christmas episodes

im going to tell everyone how poorly you treated me

but only on a website you cant read, or respond to

so there mr lamont

smoke that

in case your like from mars--this was a weak attempt at humor

they are all facts, just the names have been change to protect the guilty

If it is one thing I have learned, when a trader tries to give you an excuse- don't even try arguing it after the second round.
Its for Naught.

If you have a problem with their burner, discs, quality, what they said they would do and did-
Their burner speed, and so on.

It doesn't matter how long they have been trading, or how long you have known them- All that happens is they feel put on trial, or defensive and they take it personally.
Or they come up with reasons it should work
"my neighbors have the same set, another trade has the same set, the discs work fine for me-no one else has complained-
BAH. All that matters is if you personally can view them.
If you are unfortunate eough to have to get a replacment for any size most people already feel bad, being told "its just you' isn't going to help anything.

All that happens is anything you have ever done gets brought up-as if to even the playing field.
Or they wash their hands of you.

I have met a ton of traders.
I talk to some on the phone, I have met some in person-
I have talked via messenger services-
And for the most part, unless you "KNOW them" on a level other than opening in email it always goes the same.

I think your right to just toss them and move on Lamont-

I am especially interested in the "we need to learn by our mistakes and be kind to the other guy." area on this.

I presume this takes over the previous, get uspet with them, belittle them and put them on your ignore list philsophy? Good to know.

its an inside joke between lamont and myself and a few others

it seems people believe that i --or some others--need a set of the smurfs,as the crowning glory to any collection

even though i cleary say i dont want cartoons, annimation, movies, etc

i get an offer for the smurfs at least once a week

also at least 10 times a week, someone will email, and say they have_________ which of course i have on my list for 6 months and not only have that one, but also have another version as well

whats my point

simple

put forth a little effort, do soem research

do some reading

its a much better way to spend time, rather than crying about why someone doesnt seem to want to trade with you

another great one, is the 39 questions trade

lets say i have the following set

jimmie takes a dump 10 discs 9 of 10 quality 1996

complete all 40 epsiodes

this is how it looks on my list

ok why do morons need to ask 39 questions

how many discs is it??

does it include the 1942 movie that was by the same name??

is it complete??

does it have the episode from when jimmie was sick and took two dumps that one day??

does it include when jimmie was on hollywoods biggest loosers??

can you add the singleese language so my aunt can watch it as well??

and on and on...........

oh ya, would you trade it for a 14 disc set of the smurfs christams episodes

Too, too funny. And all too true, I fear. I've reached the point where I am pulling my list off my web site, since 99% of the people I hear from have spent hours reviewing my list, but not one moment reviewing my trading terms. When contacted by someone new, I want a trial trade of a max of 2 discs. I don't sell, I only trade - my preference, I buy all the time, so no political statement is intended. Both of these are stated in my terms. So of course, lately I've been getting shopping lists of 100 discs or more, with requests for how much I'll charge for 'em. And when I say no thank you, I keep getting repeated requests, like obviously I'm too stupid to have understood the first request properly.

So, I'm planning to redesign my site to remove a direct link to my list of shows - my want list and my terms and upcoming projects will be listed, but my list of shows will be a separate page and won't be listed in my sig ...
