were playing??? It looked like THE CURLY SHUFFLE kinda dance. I wouldn't expect three black guys from Watts do dance like that. Especially Rerun who knew how to dance.

I always felt the idea of three black teens from Watts calling the Doobies their favorite group was itself unrealistic.

They said the Doobies were their favorite ROCK group...they didn't say fave group overall. I have fave rock groups, fave rappers, fave hip-hop singers, etc.
And for any black person in those days WAS PURELY REALISTIC to like the Doobies.

I so agree. Where does that come from??? People of all races can love different kinds of music. To make a statement that black people from Watts don't like rock music is pretty close-minded to me.

At the Doobies concert, it looked to me like Raj and his buds were doing the Funky Clutz and THEN some!!! LMAO

But yeah, I quite agree with everyone concerning racial stereotyping when it comes down to music preference, etc.!
I happen to be black & Native American, and I grew up on (plus love) Classic Rock and Classic R&B. Rap disgusts me past a tee. Period.
I also like Country artists such as Alan Jackson, Shania Twain, Faith Hill and Vince Gill (plus the classic Kenny Rogers, Conway Twitty, Eddie Rabbitt and Ronnie Milsap).
So there ya go, everyone. It really doesn't matter...

I think we tend to stereotype due to ethnicity and geography. The late blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan grew up in Austin, Texas, where country music is huge. Yet, country music had no effect on him.

When the Canadian prog-rock group Rush played their first concert in Brazil in 2003, the portuguese-speaking Brazilians not only knew every word of every song and sang along, they even hummed/sang guitar riffs on the instrumentals!!!

Let's face it, Raj was the black equivalent of Richie Cunningham. And Dwayne embodied just about any teenage guy who thinks he's cool by going "hey hi hi," but really isn't.

Exactly my point as well.
I know of a whole bunch of black people (and members of other ethnic groups) that can't dance a lick to save their lives! (Or, for that matter, they can't sing at all, either)

Yet, it doesn't matter to me one way or the other.

Because as long as you're YOURSELF, and are not trying to be something you clearly aren't, then you're A-OK with this lady.

Oh yeah, I never really gave much thought to Cliff Huxtable's "flat footed" style of moving... LMAO
