Default Redd Foxx and LaWanda Page on Dean Martin Roast

This is from the Frank Sinatra roast in 1977. This was during the last season of the show. To me I think Redd Foxx looks older as himself than as Fred.

Yep. In fact, he was adamant that the role of Aunt Esther be given to her.

They look great. LaWanda looks so different than frumpy Aunt Esther.

Yeah, but she usually looks frumpy. She's such a biatch, that it makes her look fugly.

I think I know what episode you're referring to though. She was dancing sort of slow and sexy, kind of shaking her hips...and I remember thinking, my God, she looks sexy.

Is that the episode? I'd like to see a picture of that if anyone has it.

I don't remember. I only saw it once, but I do know that I was really struck by how pretty she looked. It has to be the episode. Was she dancing...slow and sort of with her hips?

Yeah, I think that's the episode "My Fair Esther", where Fred enrolls Esther in the 'Mrs. Watts Business Wife' beauty contest and tries to "turn her into a sexy lady-lol. She WAS attractive in that episode. That scene Solomon described is funny as hell. That's during the contest when they're doing an act as a married couple and end up insulting each other.

FRED: (Singing) Down by the Old-Mill-Stream-

ESTHER: (Interrupting) It wasn't a STREAM it was a LAGOON . . .GOON!!!

FRED: (continuing to sing) Where I first met you-

ESTHER: That wasn't me that was my sister Elizabeth.

FRED: And Your Eyes-So-Blue

ESTHER: They weren't BLUE they were BROWN.

FRED: (Irritated) HOW'D YOU LIKE TWO BLACK ones??? (Singing again) Dressed in Gingham-too.

ESTHER: And it wasn't Gingham it was POLYESTER.

FRED: (Disgusted) POLYESTER, that's you. Half woman and Half PARROT-
