Default Unknown Twins Case?

I've been a longtime reader of this board, relying on members to help find updates to cases, but I've never joined until today. I still watch the show daily and enjoy the fact that so many others do as well. One case I've been hoping to see again but never have is only faintly in my memory. So if it's not an Unsolved Mysteries case, please forgive me. I remember seeing it a long time ago, and it's possible that it wasn't on UM.

The case was about a man who was in the army and (I believe) was getting off a train either because his tour of duty was over or was about to begin. As he was walking by the crowds of people in his uniform, he ran into another man in uniform who looked just like him. The two stopped and circled each other before introducing themselves and exchanging contact information. It seems the two were twins and had never met before. Afterward, the man either lost the contact information he was given, or it was no longer valid when he tried using it.

Does anyone remember a case like this? It's been bothering me for years since I've never seen it air on Lifetime.

Yes I have this segment on tape. The elderly man's name was Ken Palmer. I thought he was adorable and a great interview and this is one of the few Lost Loves cases that caught my attention. I don't know if he was ever able to locate his lookalike though.

Welcome to the board btw.

I remember seeing that segment several times. How frustrating that he lost the contact info!

Yeah no update on this case. Great quote in this one. The guy says " If I had the brains that God gave geese I would have stayed and talked with the guy and took another train." LOL

Thanks for all the info! Can anyone provide details about the original air date of this segment?

And if any kind soul could PM me about downloading the segment online (perhaps someone with a copy and the capability), I'd be much obliged. As I don't believe it's been released officially.

Thanks again!

You would think he would at least hear from a lot of other Palmer relatives who had some version of that family lore he and the other guy shared. Anyone want to try a Palmer genealogy forum and see if anything came of this?

This story has always seemed to be implausible to me. While I don't know where it might rank in importance in some people's lives, most people that were introduced to a person that they believe was an unknown "twin" would have that memory seared into their minds.

That's why the guy "losing the contact information" doesn't hold much water:this was a moment in his life that had to be the equal of getting married and having kids. How could you "forget it?"

Even had he lost the paper containing the address, he knew the last name and you would think would remember the first name and town.

Some of these guys have a lot of imagination. I'm still waiting for them to explain the one who said he saw Amelia Earhart's plane.

I agree that it sounds implausible. But, I've had situations in which I've talked to a really attractive woman, been so nervous/amazed that she's even talking to me that when I leave I forget her name (nevermind phone number or hometown) when we depart.

You'd be amazed what you can forget sometimes, especially in weird situations.

Well I found a post on a family tree sight from Ken Palmer's granddaighter trying to help him finmd out who it was. Apparently the fellahs talked and both heard a story in the familiys about to brothers. Sounds like they have to research the family tree. Sounds like look a like distant cousins.

That's very considerate of her to continue the search!

Although I haven't seen this segment in around a decade, I'm inclined to concur on your distant cousin-look-alike theory because I know of such an occurrence: my Stepfather and one of his first cousins are practically mirror images of each other It is unbelievably creepy. They share the same height, build, facial structure, eye shape, lips, nose, complexion, ears, hairline, etc. It's especially baffling to me because a.) their childhood/teenage photos demonstrate distinct physical differences and b.) the people in my family -- on either side -- only resemble one parent or a sibling, but not to the same degree. While I wouldn't mistake one for the other, that's just because they're opposites personality-wise
