I remember in the late 70s how as a 12-yr old I had the hots for Pam Dawber AND "Thelma" from Good Times. Pam was actually a good actress and there were some genuinely touching scenes between her and Robin. I remember how there were many scenes where Robin went off on one of his patented stream-of-consciousness routines and I always wondered whether Pam would be laughing because it WAS in the script or whether she couldn't keep a straight face! Probably a little of both. And just for the record, from what I've heard, Robin did IMPROVISE and go outside of the script on MANY occasions. I'll bet that very few actors - comedic or otherwise - are allowed to do that in a SITCOM format. But Robin had that unique talent, but I've never seen any one like him SINCE...and I know he was heavily influenced by Jonathan Winters but I always thought Robin was far better off-the-cuff than Winters. It was sheer genius. Admittedly, as a 12-yr old kid, you had to be really sharp to understand Robin's style and "get the jokes". I guess I was a little advanced for my age!

Right on. Mindy's the best.
I was in kindergarden when MM debuted and the humor was a bit more than a small child could understand ... or even a large child sometimes <G>, but it didn't much detract.Exidor was my fav. My mother still thinks he's a little scary. |
