Default Water under the bridge...

After a few other posts, I figured I need to make a post myself. Most people here probably don't even know or care what is going on, which is no big deal, but some do, and I think it is important that everyone involved knows at least where I am coming from. Of course I don't want to name names, but I am sure those involved will figure it out for themselves.

First off, anything I posted, on any other board, was not started to bash any member from ANY board. I simply had a question. Within the post, others made comments about a couple of traders, and also made a comment about my past experiences with these traders, which I do not think was rude, but probably out of line.

I know that on SO and CPS there are traders who are not the best of friends, I think that is obvious after yesterday . But I don't want to be looked at as an antagonizer, nor am I trying to push all the blame onto others and be the good guy all over. And I am not going to be two-faced and run to other boards and type the opposite. Other traders may have had bad experiences with trades in the past, I haven't had any bad experiences with anyone involved in this mess, so I shouldn't comment like I have.

I just want all the high school drama to pass, and just be water under the bridge... . No matter if we trade 200 discs a month or a week, bottomline we are all traders. Sometimes good traders turn bad and bad traders turn good and so on, and we cannot control that. But it is going to help nothing with multiple traders fighting and quarreling every chance they get. If someone doesn't want to trade/deal with another person that is their right, and no one should make them feel like they have to. So in closing, if you read all this, fantastic, if not, hopefully you got the overall message that I want to put all of this behind us and move on and continuing trading.

The only problem is that when you posted on CPS and trashed two traders, which I thought was unfair as they were not members and could not defend themselves, I posted that my dealings with them, were on the positive side. My post was deleted as was another positve post and I was banned from the group for having the nerve to support them, as the powers to be at CPS are not fans of these two traders. Maybe the lesson to be learned is that if you have something to say about a individual, say it to their face, not behind their back.

I do not really think I trashed anyboby in my post...I admit that some members has some unkind things to say about the 2 traders, but all I said, in response to the posts was that "It seems like x and x think they are the royalty of the trading world". I have said I was wrong in saying that, and have cleared everything up with one of the traders in question and even made a recent trade with them.

I have no authority at CPS, so I cannot control the banning of anyone. Again, I agree that some of the posts about the traders were harsh, but I have no proof whether they are justified or not, so I made my comment based on what these people said, it may not have been right, but certainly wasn't trashing. I don't understand how a simple post asking where a certain trader is able to find many rare sets, caused such an uproar.

You state that you have no idea if the harsh comments were correct or not and based your sentiments on them. Maybe next time as Loren has pointed out, you can make sure of what is said happpens to be true before sprouting off. Because someone doesn't trade with another doesn't make them royalty.

Lordsmurf accused me of lurking because I had only one post and haven't taded with anyone. At this site the smurf doesn't post or trade with anyone but he only sees what he wants to see.

To say harsh comments were made is a understatement. To call a man a money whore and say that almost all dealings with him and another turned to failure and they strong arm and bully people are more then just harsh.

Then a former moderator of this board steps up, calls the list owner of this site names (of course he couldn't defend himself) and they call themselves the cream of the crop.

In the future if someone has a problem with a member of this site, leave it here, discuss it hear, thrash it out here, don't bring it elsewhere.

This is ridiculous.

I came out, said what I said, which is THE ONLY thing I am accountable for. I have no control over what others say about people, I said I was in the wrong for making the "royalty" comment, but I guess an apology is not good enough for you Harvey. I never had a problem with ANYONE, i made 1 comment, apologized for it, and moved on, well trying to move on, but I guess this will get dragged on even further.

Also, Harvey, your main concern was that the members that were talked about could not defend themselves, well I do not see why you need to be their spokesman here, what happened between you and LS is between you 2, I have nothing to do with that.

I made a comment about 2 traders and now I have apologized for it, 1 has accepted my apology, another hasn't talked to me yet, I think you should leave the comments to them.

We don't ban people here we don't like. We don't remove posts without any reasons or because we don't agree with you. Everybody is given a fair opportunity. If they want to have an exclusive - by invitation only group, that is fine. I think it's rather childish to privately "recruit" people from here. We do the best we can here and can't please everyone. We try to make it safe. It's not always a perfect system.

As far as the former moderator's comments, I was always willing to listen to their suggestions, just like I am with the current moderators. To say "banning is like grinding teeth" is absurd. I've banned 683 usernames and suspended 62 others to this date. The bannings may not have always been instantaneous, but they did happen at some point more times than not. To say I don't care about the Trading Post is also not true. I simply don't have the time nor interest to keep up with it on a daily basis. I will say it would not be open without the gracious help of the current 2 moderators who do a wonderful job here. I can't thank them enough for their help and loyalty.

ok heres my comment

why do i need to come to you for an apology, or anything else about this

you have not said a word to me about it

woudlnt a logical idea have been to email me , or pm me, if you had a question about a potential trade

my email is on every post, i dont hide and use a clever fake name

rather than jump on , as you put it, an elite board

remember i didnt make any statements to you, or about you, and still havent

and will not

i havent traded with you, so i have no first hand experince

i have this funny method about me, i need to have the facts--previuos to running off at the mouth, i know how unusal that is

lumping me in with any other trader or dealer isnt fair at all

if i did something to you, by all means post all the facts

that whats keeps this site fairly safe,

Default Words

Words have amazing power. Once they are spoken. They can be used again and again.

Words damage reputations.
Words attack peoples characters and still attack when the voice stops.

IN the real world what you say can only be heard so far.
And gets forgotten a little more quickly.
Where as the online world- they echo.
They remain in emails, they remain in posts. They remain in threads. They remain.

I would be dreaming if I said I wished all altercations on one board, remained there-
and ovely hopeful if I said I wished all things could be resolved.

But when I see a thread as I did early this morning, where users are actually attacking each other with threats of violence. It makes me sick.

In all the dictionary's in all the volumes of thought and intelligence we have at our fingertips.
Words were created for communication.
To help us, get along with each other and express ourselves.
TO help with resolve and help with repairing and to evolve.

To imagine a trade going so awry, a suer has to threaten another with a Katana?
Sickens me.

Outside these walls of this forum are real problems- THIS is supposed to be a hobby.
Outside of this website are real wars going on, with real violence, and real pain.
THIS is supposed to be fun.

Putting people on alters, putting people on trial.
Whispering behind backs, threatening in forums.

And throughout- the most amazing thing is, once these words have been uttered.
Once these words have been used to hurt, to defame, to rip apart someones reputation-to start a verbal war
Once these words have been uttered to harm or insult-to attack-

Few words ever repair that. So be careful what you say, or even type out.
Because most times they will be around a lot longer than the conflict, the situation, or even us.

Wow- there is sure a lot of drama lately! Darn it, I keep missing it all.

I must say that I think Dajz and I were a lot more entertaining.

I don't have a beef with anyone here, but I know that once words are spoken, it does not matter whether you try to retract them. People will remember the bad things that are said. Everyone should remember that and think carefully about what they say and what the consequences of their actions will be.
