Default During the Second Season of the Jeffersons, lot of viewers had problems when George

used the word-"SUCKER". Correct me If I'm wrong but didn't Lawanda Page from Sanford and Son use SUCKER all the Time? So before the 3rd season, a CBS executive no longer wanted the word SUCKER used on the show because many viewers would have miscontrued it's meaning-lol STRANGE.

This Info was found Today in a September 1976 Issue of Jet Magazine

That is a little strange considering he used the words Honkey and Niggr. Sucker is tame by comparison.

Oh No Well...to be honest here...

Even though it was all in (twisted) humor, I'd much rather hear him, as a black person, say "Sucker/Sucka" or "Chump", as opposed to the N-word.

ANY black person who uses that N-word truly gets on my LAST NERVE, it doesn't matter whether there's a so-called "in-race group understanding" or not.
It's the worst word in any language! Period...

George did say sucker. I can't remember, but I think it was that episode when Lou Gosset guest starred.

He sure did. I remember him using it in the Louis Gossett episode. I thought that George went too far at times.

I wonder if that was when Wendell Brown (whom Louis Gossett played) made a pass at Weezy.

Yes he did. One of his Classic Snobbish Moments Below

Louise: "George just because we are moving up it's no reason for us to look down on people"

George: "I'm not telling you to look down on nobody, I'm just saying shift your angle and have them start looking up at you."

LOL
