What do you mean by the title line?
Russia eliminated Canada, but it was Finland who eliminated the USA. Czech Republic and Sweden also advanced to the semi-finals. Give those other three countries their due credit!

Finland has an excellent team. Russia Beat the Americans Yesterday, even though it didn't mean very much. But CBC plans to air a mini-seres about the 1972 Summit Series in March. Pretty embaressing for CBC to broadcast that now after yesterday's 2-0 game, don't you think?

Who did the USA beat in 1980? A group of college kids beating a team of professionals.
![]() I think that was far more embarrassing for the Russians than the Canadians losing this year. Any of the four teams left can win the gold medal. The Finns are playing the best I think. |

1-0 for Finland in the second period. Will they clean Russia's clocks?

Make that 3-0 now, and the second period isn't even over yet.

But they were too pooped after they cleaned Canada's clocks yesterday, so you can't blame them for trying.

Are you rooting for Russia or Czech Republic in the bronze medal game? Right now, Czech Republic is leading 1-0 during the first intermission.

Czech Republic took the bronze with a 3-0 win over Russia. I'm sure they are much happier than whichever team loses tomorrow's gold medal game and must settle for silver. With the exception of the Swedish women's hockey team this year, I've never seen the silver medalists celebrate on the ice unlike the bronze medalists. I guess they are simply too dejected because they didn't win the gold, whereas bronze medalists take huge consolation in winning their medals.

As I correctly predicted, the Finnish men did not celebrate with their silver medals unlike yesterday's Czech bronze medal team or the Swedish women's silver medal team. These Finnish men are feeling much pain and agony now, unlike most other silver and bronze medalists who seem content on winning a medal of any kind in these Olympic games. I guess that is what happens when you held to the highest standards and must settle for silver. The looks on their faces speak for themselves.
