Are you Being Served? is my all-time favorite.
I also like Grace & Favour, and Good Neighbors, which weren't on the list.

First off, thanks for the list. Lots of great sitcoms to choose from, but these were classics.
Mind Your Language 1978 - 82 Mr. Bean 1990 - 1995 (Rowan Atkinson) ps: do they still show Coupling on BBC America ? thats another good one. |

Keeping Up Appearances is a classic-one of my favorites.
Others I also have on DVD: 'George and Mildred', 'A Fine Romance', 'Mother and Son' (Australian), 'Ever Decreasing Circles'. Of course, AYBS? is a classic. I haven't seen very many episodes of 'Man About The House' but since I like George and Mildred I am sure I'd like this one too. One obscure one I like very much which I've never seen discussed on these boards: 'After Henry'. It stars Prunella Scales as a 42 year old widow in a large house with her mid 70's age widowed mother in a small flat in the basement and her 18 year-old daughter living in a flat on the floor above her. Another obscure one not on the list that I like is 'No, Honestly' which only lasted 14 episodes and is sort of a much younger George Burns and Gracie Allen equivalent. I see 'Shelley' is on the list. I do have about 22 episodes of this but I really don't care for it much-the disaffected, umemployed, single British slacker male in his 20's or 30's of the time (1979) obviously did. |

When I read No Honestly I immediatly thought
of Liza Goddard But apparantly she starred in Yes Honestly a sequel to Pauline Collins and John Aldertons No Honestly. Liza was a ravishing , blonde, 26 year old in that series. (1976 ) It would be great to see it again, but I won t hold my breath. A Fine Romance with Susan Penhaligan and Judy Dench is a bit of a classic too. Wish I had the dvd , I d post some caps and movies into this thread. Liza is of course lifelong mates with Charlotte Bingham and Terrence Brady, (the writers of Yes Honestly.) She starred in the comedy series Pig in the Middle with Terrence and a host of other comedy actors, |

xxtimbo, I have not seen 'Yes, Honestly' so I can't comment on it.
Charlotte and Terrance are listed on the credits of 'No Honestly' as well. I was lucky enough to get both Acorn VHS releases of 'No Honestly' while they were still in print (Acorn never did make a DVD release). The show was broadcast once on my local PBS station, that's how I became aware of it. |
