....began his long broadcasting career on NBC after World War II. He was delivering late night radio newscasts on WNBC in New York by 1947, while becoming a staff announcer on the network. He was the long-time announcer on Bill Cullen's "THE PRICE IS RIGHT", daytime and prime-time, from 1957 through 1963. He also served as Art Fleming's announcer on "JEOPARDY!"
from 1964 through 1975.....and continued to deliver local newscasts and announcing chores on the network AND WNBC-TV and WNBC-AM, right into the '80s. "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE" is his last regular announcing chore on NBC- has been since 1975. The other NBC announcers in New York who worked alongside him- Fred Collins, Wayne Howell, Arthur Garry, Bill Wendell, Johnny Andrews- they're retired or long gone. LONG MAY DON PARDO CONTINUE!!!!!!! |

Yes, I remember Don Pardo from his years on THE PRICE IS RIGHT when it was
hosted by Bill Cullen. Actually, my mother was the one who watched it faithfully every day; I sort of listened to it. I was about ten when Don Pardo began doing the announcing duties for that show. Glad to hear Don is still around. A happy, happy birthday to him! |
