Default The Roseanne Finale

I was wondering if the finale was the one where Roseanne is telling the audience how she's been writing everything that happened in the past year and that Dan died of a heart attack.

Thanks so much. I never saw it in prime time, only in syndication and figured it probably was, but wasn't sure. I felt a little ripped off by the ending, personally. Kind of like, "Oh, it was just a dream." I think it should have just ended without the morality lesson.

I don't remember the finale, even though I seen it originally.

I just saw it yesterday, so it is fresh in my mind. The first half is seen from the point of view of Darlene's new baby, Harris. They have just brought her home from the hospital and everyone comes in to talk to her. I think it should have ended like that, but then in the next fifteen minutes, Roseanne goes into this really creepy monologue about how she's been writing in the basement the last year and how the lottery was all made up and how Dan died of a heart attack. She basically says that the last season was all in her imagination. I didn't like it at all.

I think it would have been better to say that Dan didn't die of a heart attack & that in reality great things happened.. besides the lottery!

Like for one, they could have said that Roseanne made it as a big writer & she's making alot of money for it. Darlene actually had her baby without any problems. Jackie actually hooked back up with Fred & realised that they were meant for each other. Becky & Mark.. expecting a child of their own & Becky going to school.

That would have been better to say... Everything in the finale seemed so sad for an ending..

I cried a ton when Dan died. The last episode was clever, but not what I had hoped it would be.

Did you know how many fans of the show felt "Betrayed" when they won the lottery? I wonder how they felt when they learned it was all imagined.

Personally, I liked the finale, very clever. Sad, but smart.

I hated the finale! Dan died, Jackie was a lesbian, the sisters switched husbands. It was horrible!

I agree. At the time, I hated it, but now I really like it. Roseanne had some strong things to say in the final monologue, and I think it was a very powerful way to end the show.

I hated it too...but I like the concept. It was different...very ingenious.

Kinda like Newhart...that whole Vermont thingy was a dream of bob's wife...LOL
I don't think people came away from that (Newhart) feeling that they were duped or anything.
The Roseanne finale was surely different.

Exactly. Dan would never cheat on Roseanne. And how she handled that so-called affair, is not the way I know Roseanne wouldn't have handled it. She would have been screaming her lungs out, beating his ass, etc.

I totally agree. It was like the whole series that we had come to enjoy had all been one big fat lie and that wasn't right in my opinion.

I wanted to cry too! And yes, it does kinda suck how the show went off, but while it was on it was such a real life show. So I suppose, in some way, they did the right thing But alot of it does suck (just like real life...see what I mean)
