Last night, I was watching an A&E documentary special called The Dark Side of Parole. The first story presented was the June 1996 murder of Aimee Willard, the Pennsylvania coed who was abducted and murdered by Arthur Bomar. Of course, UM profiled the case during the 1996-97 season.
The murder went unsolved for a year, until a parolee named Arthur Bomar was arrested. At the time of Aimee's murder, Bomar was out on parole, after serving 11 years of a life sentence for a killing in Nevada. He was eventually tried, convicted, and sentenced to death for Aimee's murder. He is currently on Pennsylvania's death row. For those of you who missed the program, don't despair. It is scheduled to be shown again tomorrow (2/16) at 1pm and 7pm (Eastern Standard Time). The Aimee Willard case is shown at the very beginning of the show. |

I don't know if we are supposed to resurrect an older thread but did a search on Arthur Bomar and he has not been executed yet. He is still on PA death row.
A man who claimed to be a friend of Aimee Willard was arrested for harassing her family. This is cruel and mean. http://www.delcotimes.com/articles/2008/07/02/today's%20stories/19825512.txt |

Yeah, Bomar will never be executed. PA has such a crappy and disorganized death penalty system. They have a couple hundred on their row. Three have been executed since the death penalty was reinstated in PA in the late 1970's. All three voluntarily ended their appeals and elected to get executed. So, my guess is, unless he ends his appeals on his own, Bomar will die of old age before he is ever executed.
