I've been following this for a few days and it's a long deliberation. The jury got the case on February 7 and a full week later there is no indication of a verdict, either in the local press or the website dedicated to Kimberly Pandelios. One reason for a long deliberation could be secretly taped conversations with the defendant's girlfriend in which he repeatedly denied being the killer, and suggested the police had been trying to hang the charge on him for 14 years.
This was the UM case in which a man was convinced he saw Kimberly in a camping area, only to be scared off by three men. It was later believed to be connected to the November 1995 murder of model Linda Sobek, based on locale. A different man was convicted of that crime. Here's a summary, followed by a few additional links:http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/s...delmurder.html LOS ANGELES – Deliberations began Tuesday in the trial of a 42-year-old registered sex offender accused of killing a professional model whose skeletal remains were found in 1993 in the Angeles National Forest, a year after her disappearance. The jury began considering the fate of David Rademaker of Burbank after hearing closing arguments from prosecutors and defense attorneys, who gave sharply different accounts of the evidence. Prosecutors accuse Rademaker of luring Kimberly Pandelios with the offer of a possible photo shoot, then raping her and drowning her in a creek when she resisted. Pandelios, 21, was last seen Feb. 27, 1992, when she told her husband that she was meeting with a photographer named Paul. Her partial remains were discovered March 1993 by hikers in the San Gabriel Mountains northeast of Los Angeles. Investigators with the county Sheriff's Department's unsolved homicides unit relied on interviews with witnesses and telephone records discovered in 1992 to arrest Rademaker. In March 2004, a grand jury indicted him on charges of murder and the special circumstances of kidnapping and sodomy." http://www.nbc4.tv/news/6479033/detail.html http://www.dailynews.com/news/ci_3485601 http://kimpandelios.com/ |

The jury convicted David Rademaker of first degree murder on Wednesday, after 4 1/2 days of deliberation. This link seems to have the most detailed summary of the case and the trial: http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?se...cal&id=3910427

Sweet. This guy totally needs to be behind bars. I'm glad that a jury felt the same way.

If David Rademaker is guilty as the jury decided, then I don't think he acted alone. But I suspect there's not evidence to arrest anyone else. |

Was there any link to the murder of Kimberley Pandelios to the murder of Linda Sobeck?

If Rademaker did in fact kill Kimberly, I would love to know how the whole "mountain men" sighting came into play. Was that even for real??

But whether or not there is any truth to the sighting of "mountain men", one thing is certain: If anyone else (besides Rademaker) was involved in Kim's murder, there is currently not enough evidence to prove it. |

Hmm, I hate to say it, but I am not convinced that Rademaker actually killed Pandelios. I am troubled by the lack of forensic or other physical evidence. Eyewitness and telephone records? Sounds pretty weak to me. I do not think the jury was really completely convinced either even though they convicted him. 4 and a half days of deliberations and then he gets LWOP? No, I do not think they were totally convinced he did it. But he had the misfortune of being a sex offender. Sex offenders are hated and presumed guilty by the majority of the American public so why not convict him? After all, get another sex offender off the streets that way even if you are not really convinced he actually did what he was accused of.
