Who has seen the episode Gomer Joins the Marines, the pilot for the spinoff Gomer Pyle USMC? I saw it Monday night and found it hilarious as Gomer, from the moment he arrived with Andy got himself in hot water with Sergeant Carter.

I love that episode. I also love Gomer Pyle USMC.
It's kind of unreal though in that Andy is allowed to roam around the base like he does in that episode though. Just nitpicking. I do love that episode though. The whole bucket on the head thing. Gomer: "...And you know, I really can think better with the bucket on my head." Andy: "What were you thinking about?" Gomer: "About how much better I can think with the bucket on my head."

yea, I've seen that episode a lot of times over the years, that IS a funny one! When I was little and CBS was showing reruns of "TAGS" in the mornings and calling it "Andy of Mayberry" (which my brother thought it was still called
-do you beleive that?-, until I corrected him recently. To be fair, though, he hardly watches TV and has NEVER had cable) and they showed that one, it was the first time I knew that the Gomer Pyle on "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C." and the Gomer on TAGS were the same person!!! I also din't know that TAGS was on in prime-time.TV LAND showed it again on Monday? DAMN! I KNEW I shouldn't have watched "Digging for the Truth". Oh, well! |

Yeah I felt the same way about Andy roaming the base, appearing at Gomer's window and everything.

TV Land just showed it again tonight (1-20-08). I've seen it lots of times, and i laugh just as hard each time i see it. I really like the mop bucket scene too, it's a classic.
