Default Join Sitcoms Online's 4th Annual Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball League! (10-12 Teams)

It's almost that time again. Our 4th Annual Sitcoms Online Fantasy Baseball League will soon begin. Can Pavan win his 3rd title in 4 years? Can TJ finally take the crown? Or will it be somebody new?

I've set it to Rotisserie instead of Head-to-Head this year. The live draft is tentatively set for Friday, March 17th, at 11PM EST. That can be changed if not many people are available. We need 10-12 teams to join.

And remember, only join if you are going to stay the entire season.

In case you are unfamiliar with the scoring of Rotisserie Leagues, here is how it works:

http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/baseba...brules-05.html

In a Rotisserie League, fantasy teams are ranked from first to last in each of several statistical categories. Points are then awarded according to the order of finish in each category, and are totalled to determine an overall score and place.

So, if you are in a 12-team league, the team with the most home runs will receive 12 points, the team with the second most will receive 11 points, etc. In the case of a tie, each team involved receives an average of the total points due -- i.e., in the above example, if two teams were tied for first in homers, each would receive 11.5 points [(12 + 11) / 2 = 11.5].

Therefore, the maximum number of points that a team can earn is equal to the number of scoring categories within a league multiplied by the number of teams in the league. Similarly, the lowest number of points that a team can earn is equal to the number of scoring categories multiplied by one, which is the lowest score that can be achieved in any category.

So, if you were playing in a league with 12 teams and 12 scoring categories, the lowest point total possible is 12 [12 * 1 = 12] and the highest is 144 [12 * 12 = 144].

Rankings within the individual scoring categories (HR, RBI, etc.) are based on the cumulative stats earned by all active players during the season and not on any individual day or game.

Therefore, the overall ranking of your team will rise and fall depending on how it performs relative to the performance of other league members. So, the phenomenon of "losing points" can be explained as your rank falling in one or more of the statistical categories used in your league.

so how does this fantasy baseball work? I went to the site and couldn't find what this is. I have seen this every year but I don't understand what this is and how it works.

Do you lie in your bed every night, wondering if my previous victory was a fluke? Here's your chance to spank me silly (within the confines of fantasy baseball, of course) and prove me wrong. After a yearlong hiatus, I'm back to prove that my victory was in fact no fluke. I will warn you though, it will not be easy to beat me. You might scoff at my bravura, but it will become very apparent in time that it was not without merit. Good luck to all. You'll need it.

On another note, good call on roto. I heart roto.

We still need 1-3 more teams to join. If anybody knows somebody who wants to play, please send them this link. Draft is next Friday night at 11PM EST.

Congrats to PB for winning his 2nd championship in 3 years. TJ led throughout most of the season, but faded in September. PB's lineup was bolstered by key acquisitions like Hanley Ramirez, Justin Morneau, Joe Crede, and Jered Weaver.

Thanks to everyone who actively particpated this season. See you next spring!
