Does Occupation matter when it comes to dating when you are over 25? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Me and my mom had this discussion last night and I was telling her when I come home from work I may go to Subway to buy a sandwich or Rite Aid and the female cashiers will flirt with me all the time. But I said I prefer a woman who is professionally employed like I am. So tell me is there anything wrong with me feeling that way? Now i know at 20 years old it didn't matter to me if a female work in Mcdonald's or Rite Aid but it does now.

There is nothing wrong with feeling that way. You want to find a woman with common interests and if you have a professional job, it might be hard to relate to someone that doesn't have the same as you.

Exactly, my mom was saying-"does it really matter where someone works if you really like the person?-lol First of all It's not going to get that far because I'm programmed not to get seriouwith anyone who is 29 working in a check cashing place

It's always nice to find a person who is independent and has their own career. I dated a girl once who didn't work and didn't go to school and boy was she needy.

Most females in job like that think since you have a shirt and tie on, that means you make lots of money

I can understand how you feel. When I met my boyfriend, he was 39 and divorced and had several relationships with women that he felt didn't go anywhere for many reasons, one of them being the women he chose didn't have a career mind, not much of an education, had no goals, no aspirations, etc. He liked their looks, but had nothing much else going on.
When he met me and I told him I was a paralegal, he says that was one thing that made me exciting to him. that I had a career, my own $$$, not depending on my ex-husband for support, had my own place, my own car and my own mind.
So, it's only logical that you may want a woman with goals in life rather than be dependent on a job that will get you, probably no where in life. I mean, I had JOBS, and those were great for experience, dealing with the public, etc. but it wasn't a career. I had an education and I wanted to be more educated. I love to learn.

Exactly, it's all about where you are in life. Like I said, 10 years ago, I didn't care if a female was in rite aid or not.

I don't think there is anything wrong with how you feel. As I mentioned before I don't look down on people who didn't go to college, but I think the woman that I choose to spend my ilfe with should be someone that went to college (I think intelligence, being informed and well read is one of the very first things I would look for in a woman that I was going to be serious with) and I think what she does for a living would also be very important.

As far as me, as long as you have ambition to work somewhere, and you aren't someone like my aunt, who has an average of 8 different jobs a year, money is money and I don't care. If you're a freeloader, then buh bye.

But to each his own, ya know? And maybe to guys it's different. I know a lot of women will work part time jobs when they're married so they can be stay-at-home moms...even maybe if they're a single parent.

Shouldnt matter where they work at least they have a job and making there own money.....

When I worked at the supermarket we had a cashier who dated a lawyer. He would come in all the time to see her. She eventually quit and married him, so I guess occupation doesn't exactly mean everything.
