Default John Burns

Did Robert Stack on one of the Unsolved Mysteries specials narrate another update on the John Burns case as well as Karl Malden? I know he narrated another update on the Robert Weeks case on the May 18th 1988 special.

Malden updated the story in special #3 noting that Burns was captured in Pennslyvania. Stack did a quick review of the case a few years later when reviewing some of the cases they had solved in the past.

John Burns however, never made it to trial - he passed away shortly after being captured.

There was a montage from one of the later seasons in which Stack talked about some of the more memorable captures. Burns was among them. Surprisingly, the montage did make it to Lifetime, and some footage from the Burns story was shown.

I remember always being confused about this, as I didn't recognize the footage, and thought I had seen all the episodes. Of course, it all made sense once I saw the pre-Stack specials.

Yeah I remember Stack said "One of our first was the case of John Burns." He was talking about segments that had been solved. He went on to talk about Dave Davis (great name ) and a few others. Last update he gave was of Paul Stamper. Does anyone have any more information on John Burns? How did Dark Dante find out about his death?

Thanks.

[QUOTE=Zero Does anyone have any more information on John Burns?[QUOTE]

I would imagine the info on John Burns is extremely limited. He only allowed 2 picutres of himself to be taken in his lifetime (he worked as a school janitor and would always call in on picture day). I'm glad this case was solved, but I'm also kind of shocked that it was given the few details about him they had to work with.

Probably from something I pulled up on Newsbank as I seem to remember reading it there. There were a lot of articles about his capture at the time as it was one of the first instances of a television show leading to the capture of a wanted fugitive. Remember, AMW was still in it's infancy then too. As the years went on, the national papers seemed to lose interest in fugitives that were captured by UM unless it was a local story (covered in a local paper). However, the captures of Burns, Weeks, Strickland and a few other "early" fugitives made national news.

the guy in Zero's avatar, winner of last year's American Idol

who do you have winning it all in NCAA BB this year AWSI? Flori-duh? I dropped a few on Tennessee (amongst a couple of others), and if I hit that I will crow for about 10 years! Bruce Pearl is da man.

Yeah, I figured I was walking into something like that. If I don't recognize something it's got to be entertainment or music related, so this is a combo.

I did see a brief clip of American Idol one year when a big black guy beat a skinny white kid in the finals. That's my background.

Not exactly a lot of talk regarding American Idol in Las Vegas sportsbooks. I honestly have never heard the topic come up a single time.

OK, that adds more info. I wondered how the name Taylor Hicks came up seemingly out of nowhere. I've looked at that young prematurely gray guy in Zero's avatar and thought it might have been from a UM segment that I couldn't place.

Looks like I'm going to split tonight. I use a system betting underdogs that were higher rated in preseason. It's been pure gold this year. I won on Memphis +3 but right now my second game, Pittsburgh, is down fairly big to UCLA as a small underdog. Those are the type of underdogs I prefer, ones that should be favorites according to my systems. They aren't really upsets at all, merely the disguised superior team winning as it should.

Hey, Tennessee is far ahead of Ohio State. If that holds up it wouldn't exactly bother Canes fans, still smarting from that nonsense officiating in the '02 Fiesta Bowl overtime. On some boards I picked Ohio State to be the first #1 seed to lose. They should have lost to Xavier.

My numbers have North Carolina as the best team. But subjectively, I expect Florida, my number two preseason team, to win again. I took 4/1 on them. The Gators are the only team I truly despise in any sport, so admittedly it would be unbearable for them to hold two hoops titles and the football crown simultaneously. If it happens, at least I want to profit from it.
