I understand that Skip Young, the actor who played Wally Plumstead on the show, died in 1993. Does anyone know the cause of death?

I am also interested in what became of Skip Young. I acquired his autograph during his visit to Naval hospital Guam in 1969 for medical treatment while I was stationed there in the Navy. Let me know any information you learn

Mr. Young frequently visited a pharmacy where a friend of mine worked. I believe the town was Apple Valley, Calif.,(or somewhere in that area). You might look for a local newspaper and see if they have this information in their archives.

My friend said that Mr. Young was always friendly and courteous. She even asked him for an autograph(for me), which I still have.

It is kinda confusing, but his birth name was Plumstead. His stage name was Skip Young. Confusing because he used his real name on the Nelson show and his stage name in the credits. When I lived in Apple Valley, Calif, I managed an auto repair shop where his dad came in often. He was a sweet old guy and drove a clunker. In Wally's later years as a DJ and show MC in Apple Valley, he was not well received by the intertainment industry. Lots of 'rumors' why, but could never find out. Last time I saw him was when Rick Neslon did a concert in Apple Valley around 1983-ish. He acted just as silly/stupid on stage as when he was on the Nelson show. Off the stage and with no 'audience', he was pretty mellow and almost 'normal. (lol) I didn't know him very well, but talked with him several times. I don't know if he changed his name legally, so I will venture to say that correctly it is Wally Plumstead aka Skip Young.
