Steve, as usual, is correct.

The "Happy Birthday" ep., btw, was one of a very, very few VD Shows not filmed in front of a live audience. There's canned laughter used for that one. And the reason for this is: it was filmed on Tuesday, November 26, 1963, just one day after assassinated President John F. Kennedy had been laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery, and Carl & Co. figured it was better to not use a live audience for that show, with the obvious thought in mind of: Who's gonna feel like laughing this soon after such a tragedy?

Perhaps that's part of the reason it is one of my very least-favorite episodes of the 158. The script is pretty bad too.
