I enjoyed this one a lot! It was interesting hearing Mark Harmon's point of view as a guest star on the show. I thought he was very gracious, even when Glenn almost baited him to comment on the turmoil, and especially about working with Cybill. I think Glenn's tendency to do that was also brought up on another thread. Good commentary!

I totally agree with you, CyBr.
In fact, I just wrote the same thing on another thread.
Glenn did lead Mark down the Cybill/bashing path and you could tell that Mark did not want to go there.

BOTH Cybill and Bruce were not available to do scenes with Mark at times.

AND when Glenn says that Cybill's stand-in was doing the restaurant scene, CYBILL turns her head and shows her profile. I knew it was her!

What I really don't understand is how Glenn can say that he didn't know when Cybill told people that she was pregnant. Shouldn't that HUGE NEWS have been burned into brains? Wasn't that news what changed the direction of Moonlighting? He should at least remember the episode in which Cybill's pregnancy had to be dealt with. I just don't get it.

There was no way that it was September 17 (Jay Daniel's recollection), unless Cybill was pregnant twice. Cybill went full term with the twins. If you used Oct. 10, for example, as the due date, then the first week of February would have been the first days of a known pregnancy.

She looked like she didn't feel well at times from Sam & Dave on through To Heiress Human (and later you could tell she was really preggers). Her face was really shiny, she looked nauseous sometimes, and was that a pair of pregnancy support hose in I Am Curious Maddie? I remember them - they are so uncomfortable.

I've only watched some of it so far. Although you'd naturally expect them to comment on what it was like shooting, I was also hoping for more about what was (supposed to be portrayed) in the 'minds' of the characters. As I've said, I'm not done yet, so I hope I'm proven wrong.

I really did appreciate their reactions to the opening introductory bit, including the recap of the door scene in "Blonde," where they talk about how shocking it is to have Sam come to the door. I don't care how many times you see it, that is still a thunderbolt.

This is my favorite episode and I'm glad to be able to pore over it to my heart's content now.

I also feel that Glenn wasn`t entirely fair when talking about Cybill not being there for a lot of the scenes during the Mark `flippin` Harmon episodes and having to use the stand in.Has he forgotten that she was pregnant at the time and was suffering quite badly with morning sickness , now that must have been really tough for her to come in and do a days shooting in between throwing up. I know how she must have been feeling because i suffered with bad morning sickness with all three of my children .I could barely get out of bed on some days and couldn`t keep anything down and i carried mine one at a time so i commend and admire Cybill for how well she managed with twins, so shame on you Glenn ,but i suppose no man has any idea what is like to be pregnant. Also fair enough its good that Bruce was there alot of the time getting pizza etc for the other cast members and crew and so on ,Bruce was and is a geniunely nice guy but it`s not fair to judge Cybill with the same yard stick. Her circumstances and home commitments were very different from Bruces at that time , she had a very young daughter at home that needed her too.
I just like to add a few view points on the commentary its self quickly , overall i liked it ,it was very informative ,it was nice that Mark got on with Bruce so well and that Allyce and Curtis made him feel really welcome on his first day of filming. But i`m also surprised that Glenn couldn`t recollect the exact time of Cybills pregnancy (or even have a farely good idea of the time)

I agree. I thought Mark Harmon was great not to get into character assassination with Cybill... He knew that Cybill was having a terrible time with her pregnancy and wasn't well enough to do it all at the time. I'm glad he also mentioned about how neither of them were there all the time, for various reasons.

As Laura says, Bruce is a real 'crew' guy, who is on set a lot etc, I've heard he's the same on a film set, hanging out with the crew rather than the other actors half the time. But as you also said, his circumstances were very different to Cybill's.

Kudos to Mark Harmon! What a great guy...

This isn`t about the commentary but it`s about the episode itself.
I was sat watching it again for the umptinth time and it suddenly accured to me that in the part where Sam takes David home ,how does he know where to go . No one told him ,he wasn`t from LA so i doubt if he knew the city that well.Sam even knew what floor and what number David lived at . Now i suppose David could have told him but for the first half of the journey he`s asleep and even when he finally woke up David was probably too wacked out to even tell Sam and make any sense.
I know it`s only trivial but it`s bugging me.

I have a question also, but it's not about Sam & Dave but about Sam and Dave.

During the commentary, Bruce mentions the great scene at the end of Blonde on Blonde - and he talks about going to Maddie's door to ask her "to take me back" etc. and Mark friggin' Harmon opens the door...

It struck me immediately. There was no other known man involved then to David's knowledge. They never were actually "together" so how could she "take him back?"

Kis, I remember thinking EXACTLY the same thing when I heard him say that... and I can already see your brain workin' on this one.

Great Moonlighting minds think alike.

Sorry - I made the same mistake. He said "Mark flippin' Harmon", not "Mark friggin' Harmon". I'm having way too many mental lapses this week. Maybe I need a ML vacation.

Don't forget Bruce on Conan O'Brien tonight. I gave up on the ESPN HotSeat. I have no idea what that is all about.

I'm thinking either Maddie said something while they were walking from the table to the front door, which we don't see, or David muttered it at some point. Takes only a second to say something like that. They may not have put it in a scene we actually see because it might have interrupted that weird vibe that's going on in the car, while Dave is slumped in drunk agony and Sam's just gloating while he sings the song. Lots of things get edited out.

Doesn't look like there's much of a reason to say 'take me *back*,' unless he's referring to the fact that the last time they directly spoke to each other that day, there was that horrible fight and then she stormed out of the office--so he may have meant it in some general apologetic sense, thinking he had ruined the friendship completely.

Good commentary. Wish Bruce had been in on this one too or maybe even instead of Glen
