Thumbs down The worst character!~!~!

What character do you think should have never been on the show? Who and Why?

I think Kinu should've never been on it. She just messed up Dwayne and Whitley's storyline!!

Maggie, played by Marisa Tomei, first of all Hillman was supposed to be a histroically all black school, and to then all of a sudden have a white student around was offensive and just plain dumb, and anyway the character was not written well at all and was very poorly portrayed, then again so was the whole first season. thank god that lisa bonet, and marisa left the show and the show became what it is remembered as, a great show that will live on as a classic.

What I find offensive is the fact that Maggie was dumped from the show cos she was white! Ok, so Hillman is a "historically black school" - that doesn't mean that white students aren't allowed to enroll. In fact, NOT allowing a person entry to a school because of their skin colour is against the law and just plain outrageous! I thought that after Maggie left the show was completely unrealistic - an ENTIRE school with not one white student? I find that pretty had to swallow.
'A Different World' wasn't as good after Marisa Tomei left - she was the only person on that show who could actually act properly and this is shown by her subsequent success as an actress. Where are the rest of the cast now? I don't see them in any big movies!

Default The worst character

1. Lisa Bonet: I liked the show better once she left

2. C. Taylors son: He could not act to save his life

I never really payed attention that there were no white people on the show, except for Magggie ( but she left ). I don't think that its so bad that there weren't any white people. I mean there aren't many all black shows out, especially when that show aired.

As a matter of fact the only other white person on the show was Freddie's cousin who was on the show briefly, he became Kim's love interest.

Well I dont really consider anyone being the "worst" actor but I agree with those that say Denise's character had to go. She was great in the Cosby show but in A Different World she was boring! As for Col. Taylor's son he could act I liked him to bad he lefted but I could tell he probably wasn't missed.

As for Maggie leaving the show I considered her a good actress but I agree that she didnt really fit into the show her and Denise had to go.

I think the worst character was Whitley's
preppy friend. I don't remember her name
off hand. What was the point of having her on the show?

Default Worst character

I know who you're talking about. She followed Whitley around like he servant. Her character was unnecessary.

In MY OPINION THERE WAS NO " ONE WORST CHARCATER" OF COURSE THERE WERE BETTER CHARACTERS THAN OTHERS! EVEN MAGGIE WASNT THAT BAD BUT SHE DIDNT DESREVE TO HAVE A LEAD ROLE IN AN AFRICIAN AMERICIAN SITCOM ABOUT AFRICIAN AMERICIAN STUDENTS!

Mossopp, I think Jada Pinkett has been in more movies than Marissa Tomei has. I only recalled Marissa in 2 movies that I actually heard of What Women Want and My Cousin Vinnie. I can name a lot that Jada Pinkett has been in, Jason's Lyric, Kingdom Come, A Low Down Dirty Shame, Ali, Menance II Society, just to name a few.

But to answer the question I do think Marissa Tomei's character and Denise just never really fit in, Denise was better on the Cosby Show. I agree that Marissa is a good actress, but the show was better after she and Denise left.

And as for the white people not being in an Historically black school, well at least it has a good excuse for no white people. Look at Friends, do you see any black people in that show now that is hard to swallow, no black people in New York, very realistic.

Sorry if I'm going off subject a bit, but
Marissa was also in the movie " Bed of Roses", which she co-starred with Christian Slater.

Thanks angel676, I think I've heard of it, but I've never seen it so I didn't know Marissa Tomei was in it.

I'm sorry I made a mistake, I looked it up and Marissa Tomei has been in more movies than Jada Pinkett, but Jada Pinkett has been in movies that I actually heard of. My point is Marissa Tomei is not the only one from A Different World that actually had a successful movie career, Jada Pinkett has also. The others have been in movies, but not as many as Jada and Marissa have been in. The others are probably happy with what they are currently doing they don't need to be successful movie stars to be happy. And apparently they could act if the show lasted as long as it did.
