I watched this episode recently and I'm always puzzzled why the audience was laughing so hard when George started dancing with Helen. I mean what was supposed to be comical? George was getting down and had a lot of moves. I just never understood what the audience members were laughing at.

They were laughing at George and his dance moves. This is similar to the fact that the audience always started laughing, when George would say something smart and then strut away. Much like the scene in Jenny's Low.

I thought it was really funny when he was dancing. Besides, Helen and George didn't like each other, so them dancing together was funny anyway.

Exactly, the fact that they were not really friends with each other and was still able to as Helen -"GET DOWN", was just too wild.-lol |

The funny thing is Helen danced better in 1979 when her and George danced and George danced better in 1975. |

The audience was laughing because the dance George was doing when his arms were flairing out was called The Funky Chicken and they probably was amazed at how good he was at it...I was rolling at the party when Helen said "Get Down", That was pure comedy.
