I'm sad....
I bought Adam 12, season one, before Xmas, and just now am making it through the shows. I popped in disc #2 and side one does not work. I also tried it in several different machines just to make sure it wasn't my machine...and it's not. So today I go out and buy another one, and it is doing the same thing!!!! What the heck? I couldn't find my receipt for the 1st one, but I do have it for the one I bought today. I guess I'll return it, but I hate to. I can't be the only one with this problem since it happened to me twice.

Try notifying the studio that released it so they can get a replacement or recall the whole season 1 sets. Notify this link so they can also forward your complaint of this defect, they can also forward it to the studios. http://tvshowsondvd.com

Thanks, I'll do that. There is something wrong with the set. There's no way I could have bought them this far apart, and have the same thing wrong on both, without there being some sort of a glitch on their part.
I also saw on the Adam 12 thread, that someone else had a problem with disc 2, side 2. Thanks for your help!

It is very annoying especially since I can't find my receipt for the first one I bought...and can't even remember where I bought it. I'm going to contact the places suggested by comedyfreak. It's just such a pain...
But they should have a much better quality control. I know I will be leery of buying anything else they distribute. |

Twinkle- Here's the response I got from tvshowsondvd.com:
"It's actually a defect with almost all the Universal titles that use double-sided discs. It's poor replication at their Mexican plant". Gord _________________________________ You're right it's not you, its a factory defect. |

I did get a response from Universal. I am going to send it back to them. I have to provide a copy of the original receipt (within 30 days), where and when this happend (on the DVD), and the type of DVD machines we have. I also have to send it UPS or something that can be traced.
I do appreciate that they are going to do this for me. However, I don't have the receipt for the first one (I bought it before Xmas), and even if I had it, I had to be returning it within 30 days, so that wouldn't work. I now have 2 sets of Adam 12, both with the same problem. I am going to return the one, and hope the one they send me works. But between buying two of these things, shipping costs....I will scream if the one they send me doesn't work. This is way too much work and money for a consumer to have to deal with. You'd think they would have caught this before they were on the market. |

That's Universal for you. I try to stay away from their product as much as I can.

I haven't opened my Leave it to Beaver as of yet, and after reading that some people had problems with it, I'm thinking of just returning it. To me, it would seem like, if you're going to go to the expense of doing this, you'd at least put out a product that works. I know things can and do wrong, but there does seem to be a pattern here.

Adam-12 disc 2 had problems
I mailed mine in to Universal and they sent me another copy. It took about 6 weeks and cost a few bucks to do this. What a pain!!
Anyway, if everyone would do this with a defective disc, then maybe they would get the hint because they would be overwhelmed with bad discs. The copy you get back is guareenteed to play-so no worries there or has anyone had problems with a replacement disc not playing? They sent me back a snotty letter trying to blame it on my dvd player-ha! I don't think so. That is the only disc in my collection I have ever had a problem with. So we can rule out my dvd player. The first disc I received had glue that was oozing out of the disc and the disc was badly scuffed up. What kind of dvd players do you all have and does anyone have one that plays dvds trouble-free? And how long do dvd players last? I mean the lasers have to wear out sometime eh? |

I feel bad for you and I know that hurts when you try to buy a complete set of a series you love. I have a couple of questions if I may: How old is your DVD player? When was the last time you cleaned it? (Use a special disc or a cloth to clean the disc from picture and sound distortions). Have the other discs in your collection have this problem? Has that side of the disc been scratched (or was that unpurposely)? Meaning you scratched it from a glass door or a sharp object by accident. Let them (the studios) know about these matters and you have a right to getting a complete set of a television series that you always want.

I am beyond unhappy with these yahoos, since they are putting out a defective product. It is great that they will replace it, but I have to pay the postage. Like I said, I'm not sure I'd ever purchase another Universal DVD in the future. I have to take the time to give them the exact count on where the problem is (on the shows), which of course isn't a problem for side one of disc two, it doesn't work at all. I have to give them a list of the DVD players, and an assortment of other things...then ship it to them. They should, at the very least, also pay for the shipping. Like the reader said above, they are probably going to try and make out like I have a DVD player issue. Which is nuts, since everything else I own plays fine on the machines we have. It's just their product that is faulty. I need to just take the time and send it. If they got all these things back, then maybe they'd watch their quality control a little better. |
