Default Certain things about a specific movie(s) that ruin them for you!

I was watching "Dirty Dancing" the other day, there was nothing else to watch. I don't really care for the movie for the big reason the way the actors/actresses dress, their style of their hair, etc. is not from the 60's, the era which this movie is set in. The girls have 80's hair (duh! the movie was made in the 80's hmmmmm) they don't have those big eyelashes that the girls wore then, it is so fake. Those dresses some of the dancers wore, were not 60's style.
To me, if you are going to make a movie set in a certain time period, then by God, do some research and make the actors/actresses look like they are in that time period!

A lot of movies are ruined for me simply for the fact that they seem to want to somehow incorporate an animal being killed or traumatized. Nothing makes me turn off a movie quicker.

Robyn, I couldn't agree more on that one. That's exactly what I was going to say but you already said it for me. It's a complete turn off to me as well. The hardest cases for me to handle as a police officer are the animal cruelty cases. We don't get very many of them, thank God, but I don't need to see that stuff in the movies when I have to deal with it in real life.

wheneva theres a serious drama or horror movie and for sum dumb reason they wanna put some comedy in it...WTF?

for instance....john Q.....good movie..because of denzel of course...his acting was superb...but THEN it started getting "too fake" not to mention the corny ass jokes eddie griffin was doing.....he had nooooo business to be in there....it just ruined the movie for me....i was like shuutttt da hellll upp already damnn

another movie is "crash"....i didnt like it...although i liked the actors and the concept of the movie....but various parts ruined it for me......when ludacris and the other guy were complaining how people are scared of black people and how not all black people are robbers and gangsters...yet they go and rob a store..wtf??...that was just plain stupid....another one when they ran over the chinese guy....and the chinese guy isnt dead...but badly hurt...and u have luda and the other guy arguing with each other on what to do and thier making jokes and it was just horrible.....it was corny.......then u got the guy cursing the officers and holding a gun like a maniac...a black guy mind you...and like 5 white cops...all of thier guns pointing at him and ur gonna tell me thier not gonna shoot him?? wtf.......another one of a guy giving his little girl sum "shield" so she can be safe....and they go outside and that persian guy or wateva has a gun and he tries to shoot the guy ....but his little girl walked out or something...and supposedly the gun goes off...and the girl is dead right?.....but she survived and tells her father "shes safe with the shield".....but it was a blank shot...okay i get that...but that was just a very stupid scene.....yes im bashing the movie crash.....they tried too much in this movie

I don't know that it actually "ruins" it for me, but it does bug me when they put in gratuitous sexual implications in a film. Why must there be skin showing, or heavy breathing, or "romance" (read: bed-hopping) in a film that is about something other than a relationship?

That's funny...usually, that's the first thing that attracts me to a movie in the first place!!

I kid.

John Q is a good example of what you said. It's a horrible, sad, serious topic and like you said, there is the dumb ass humor...when crap happens in real life, I doubt very much there is some dumb a$$ standing around telling bad jokes or trying to be funny.

I hate it when there's a character who was hated by a certain other character throughout a movie, and then at the end, the actor that he hated, performs some great feat, like winning a boxing match that he wasn't suppose to, or give a touching speech, and the crowd will start cheering him, and all of a sudden the guy who hated that character will look around him, see all the people cheering, and slowly start clapping himself as a big goofy grin enters his face. It's so corny and dorky, and I wish all movies would stop doing that.

Oh No

What ruins it for me is the F**& word.

F**& this, F**& that.......... Can't they make any movies without saying the darn word like 200-300 times in one movie? One time I was bored and started counting the times the actors said it.

I couldn't help but think of Rocky 4 when I was reading your post. Do you really think that the Russian fans would suddenly chant "Rocky Rocky Rocky" after he beat their boxer? I don't think so. Which is another reason I hated this sequel. Rocky and Rocky 2 and 3 were great; the fourth time around sucked for the very reason you mentioned.

I know. It gets to be a bit much. And most of my favorite movies are like that. That's why I can't watch them with my family.

Although nude scenes don't bother me, my sister (who doesn't like seeing nude scenes) often wants to see some of these movies but won't because of that.

Oh my gosh, the ending to Rocky 4 was so pathetic!! Like you said, there's no way a Russian crowd would do a complete 360 like that, and start cheering for an American fighter. Even worse then that though, was the cheesy speech Rocky gave at the end of the fight. That had to have been one of the most corny things Iv'e ever seen in any movie.
