Default Why did Betty Garrett leave the show?

After they moved to California? It was sad that the writers had Edna leave Frank.

I read in BG's autobiography (which u should get, it has L&S pics in it! She was in a play so she decided to leave around the same time as Cindy Williams & Michael McKean. (who left to do Spinal Tap)

Betty Garrett is still working intermittently. As recently as 2003, she was in a multiple episode arc in "Boston Public" and "Becker". Per imdb.com, she's also going to be in "Trail of the Screaming Forehead". She has a wonderful star quality (I LOVED her in "On the Town" w/Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelley) and I hope she has many more wonderful performances ahead of her.

I heard she left because she was sick and tired off all the feuding going on behind the scenes at L&S. She has said she thought the stars of the show were "unprofessional, spoiled brats."

Laverne & Shirley really should have ended before Cindy left. That way, Carmine and Shirley could have been married.

I believe she left towards the end of the 6th seson and I also think it was revealed in the episode called Fifth Anniversary, however I can't find any info about this episode so it's unconfirmed.

What happened was L&S was all set to end after Season 7....Betty knew it was ending, so she signed on to do a play. Cindy said she had a dream where her dead aunt said they should do another season...they had a wrap-up party and everything and even filmed two alternate endings for the show for Season 7 (which I believed never aired ever...but would make great special features on the dvds!...maybe Shirl and Carmine marry!).
