Wink No, no, no!

Penny got pickpocketed at a store when she wanted to buy a necklace for her mom(Willona) for 10.00. The live audience says, "Aww."(in a sad, sympathetic voice). Then someone, a male voice says, "No,no,no,!" as Penny steals the necklace after the saleslady leaves. Then the audience says, "ooooh." as the TV camera cuts to the store security camera.

Thelma doesn't want to a college because they take Affirmative action, which basically means that they wanted her because she was black. Thelma says a speech, rejecting the college, and the audience says, "Right on!"

The camera shows the iron bruise on Penny'sback and the audince goes "Ooooh(in an "Oh my god. Look at her back!"voice)

In one episode, Willona thinksthat something is wrong with JJ. This is a serious scene, and Willona checks on JJ with a worried face. Someone in the audince says, "He ain't dead!"and Willona looks at the audience and laughs for a second, and then gets back to being serious. I don't knowwhatepisode it is though.

In one episode, Willona's co-worker finds out that she herself has been under surveillanc eafter telling willona that she had secretly watched her behind her back.(the epiode where the workers surveillance women in the dressing rooms.)She tells the boss, "You've been keeping ME under surveillance?"The audience says, "Yeah!"and enthusiastically claps and Willona says, 'Ain't that funny? The watcher of the watcheris being watched."Willona watched the women trying on clothes to seeif they shoplifted), her co-worker had her undersurveillance, and the boss had HER under surveillance.

To me, if the audience talks in the episode scene, it makes it more memorable for me. Like, I remembered the Thelma's College episode for YEARS because someone said, "Right on!"

I also like listening out for stuff from the audience. My most favorite quote from the audience is during the "Florida and Carl" episode where just before Florida pours water all over Carl's head, someone from the audience says, "OH NO SHE'S NOT..." hahaah!!!!! OMG... I LOVE that!

Funny how they allow that to happen, it's a trip. In practically every Lucy episode just before something happens you can hear someone say, uh oh.

If Willona had stayed with her adopted daughter that never would have happen. Willona was too concerned with looking for a man-lol

That response on the Lucy episodes must have been put there on purpose because it was the same voice. I believe they inserted that during editing so it gave a personal feel to what was going to happen. I heard that "uh-oh" abt six times.

My favorite moment was when Penny showed Wilona the tape recorder and told her that it was running since the party was going. Some audience member yelled out, "she got it all on tape!" LOL. I loved that! This was from the ep when Penny's mother returns during the last season and sets Wilona up. I always heared that "right on" track as well when the audience would clap about something.

Years after seeing the episode with the blind salesman (one of my favorites), I could still remember somebody yelling "Right On!" after Florida gave her speech about him being a disgrace to all people.

The audience reactions were one of my favorite things about this show.

When the audience got all wound up, it gave those shows ALOT of energy. That's why I prefer "Live Audience" sitcoms, as opposed to what later eps of All In The Family and Archie Bunker's Place became. Very subdued, canned laughter. I think even the Jeffersons quieted down in the 80s.

When Ray said, "Deelicious"(looking at Thelma), the audience said "Uh-oh", or "noooooooo."(They probably said both).

Oh, yeah...I was all, "Ohhh, no..." as that particular scene came about too. It was sickening of that Ray character to even be so slick and cunning as he certainly was. Ugh.

Anyhow, I was reacting the same way when JJ's girlfriend/fiancee Diana (played by Debbie Allen) locked herself in Thelma's room in order to shoot up heroin, on their prom night. Ohhhh...

That is probably thee most annoying thing abt MWC. I enjoyed the show ONCE IN A GREAT WHILE, but that audience participation thing was WAAAAY OVERBOARD...it was annoying, stupid and totally unnecessary. It was like chewing on tin foil.

Watching the episode called, "The Debuntante Ball", I realized that the audience says, "Uh oh" and "oooh" when a knock is heard on the door. Then they say, 'Uh oh", when James coldly greets them(Clarissa's parents).. They also clap a lot, laugh a lot, and say "right on" more than just a few times. I think this episode got one of the most audience reactions in the entire run of the Good Times series.

The only redeeming thing about the episode is that we got to see Lenny dressed as Santa Claus.
