Default Problem

This is just a venting post but I really need some advice. I love skating. I have been doing it since October 1998. My mom however, gets waay to involved, you know? She's out on the side screaming to me that I did something wrong. Part of me just wants to say 'if it's so easy, you come out here and do it!' I'm having so many problems with my feet right now, it's painful for me to be out there. I have to have surgery on both my feet in order for me to skate the right way without being in any pain but for the moment, I don't know what to do. I'm just not into skating competitions as much as I was. I was thinner and healthier then. I feel like that part of my life is over, but I know my mom will be furious and hurt if I tell her. I tried once before and she was really upset, I had to go back to keep the peace. Anyone have any ideas? I feel my life isn't my own anymore. I love skating for me, I just don't like all the competiting and pressure.

Thanks, I hope someone can help me out here.

Kelly, I think that you should sit down with your mom and tell her how you feel. Though she might get a little upset at first, I think that you will be much better off and much happier in the long run.

Funny robyrob Thanks JamiGertzFan (sorry I don't know your name lol) I have tried that unfortunately. It was a few years ago but she was so upset, she wouldn't speak to me. I was very upset by that and gave in.I went back. I'm just in a very stuck situation lol Thank you for your replies guys!

You have to lay it on the line with your mother. Explain to her that her dreams are not your dreams. If your heart's not in competing anymore, you probably won't excel anyway. It's hard for parents to let go of control of their kids sometimes, but the time has come for her to realize that you're getting older.

Hmm thank you for the advice. I decided I am going to try to talk to her. I'll let you know how it goes. (If I'm not too chicken lol) TY everyone!
