Do you have a recordable tape in there(tab is still in it on the bottom left)? Also, check the instructions to make sure the power settings are right(on some if you don't leave the power on it won't record). Also make sure the time and date is correct on both the clock and timer.

Taking off from Brent's previous post, if the tape you are using does not have a tab in it anymore, do you know about the tape trick? Simply take a piece of Scotch tape and COMPLETELY cover the area where the tab used to be. This acts as a tab so that you may reuse the tape for recording. When you are done recording on that tape, you can just peel off the tape.
![]() Some VCRs list the recording option in their menu as TIMER SETTING, upon accessing the menu for the first time. Or you may need to do some exploring to find advanced recording options. But really... Brent covered all the bases. |

Since we are talking about recording..... I hate those newer TVs that have those Video 1/Video 2 input channels. Therefore, I cannot set my VCR to record or even record anything. It's just a blue screen in both Videos. Grrrrrr.... |

![]() See these things right in the front? It looks like a square in front and has three sides. That is the tab. If the tab is still there, then that means you can record on it. You can pull out the tab so that it cannot be recorded over. However...if you want to reuse the tape, just put a piece of tape over it.

If you lost the remote you can get a UNIVERSAL one at Walmart, then you program it to work for your VCR or you can contact the maker of the VCR and request a remote....or if the show is on right away you can push the REC button a few times to set for how much time you want it to tape.
