I don't own any of the DVD box sets, but I would consider buying them if they were released by season. Do you think they'll ever do that?

From the sound of it they wont be releasing any other DVDs except the ones in March. I for one would rather they started releasing season sets instead of this ultimate collection. It would be nice if they did this but I dont think it will happen.

I hate buying DVDs that only contain a few segments/episodes. I would much rather spend a little more money for a complete season.

If they released season sets, I think they would sell pretty good. Who knows tho maybe someday down the road they will change there mind.

I know that Kane pointed out that there are thousands of segments out there. When you think of that, combined with the fact that there's obviously some sort of copyright dispute going on, given that UM only seems to have a few seasons that it rotates (sometimes not that well).... I don't think that it's likely that UM will ever be released by season.
I would LOVE to see this happen, though! I'd shell out the money for it, wouldn't you? |

Not all shows that have been released on DVD have season sets. Additionally, UM isn't the only show whose DVD releases mainly (or exclusively) consist of "best of" sets. Another example is Saturday Night Live, which has issued numerous "best of" DVDs.
That show has issued compilation DVDs containing what is considered to be the best of various cast members (Phil Hartman, Dana Carvey, Will Ferrell, etc.), as well as frequent hosts (Steve Martin, Christopher Walken, etc.). There might have been some "best of" compilations from the show's first five years (1975-1980), and NBC occasionally aired compilations of what is deemed the best of a specific season. But as far as complete season sets on DVD, they probably never issued any. When you take into account what I have noted on this post and other posts, one thing becomes evident: It is not realistically possible to issue full season sets of every TV show ever made, no matter how loudly we demand them. That's just the way it is, especially with shows that have seemingly countless segments, such as UM. However, we should be thankful that UM is out on DVD at all. If there were a choice between having only "best of" UM DVDs or no UM DVDs at all, then the former is the lesser of two evils. |

I would buy season sets in a heartbeat! I'm thankful that we have at least some on dvd but it's not enough. If they are just going to do these themes they need to do a missing persons dvd and how bout all the specials Lifetime has been showing the last couple days. I would also like a set called lost or forgotten. That could be all the ones that never get shown.

Yeah, I'd definitely buy the season sets if they were ever released. A "lost" series would also be great to release. Maybe a "found" series could go along with it.
