Default Tried to Make Mel's Chili

I tried to make Mel's chili once, based on the "semi-recipe" he gave when they went on that talk show.

I forget the exact quantities but it's:

hamburger meat,
1 onion,
chopped tomatoes
1 chili pepper
then is SECRET poweder ingredient (he did not revel it so I just used a VERY high priced chili powder)
NO BEANS believe it or not!

Actually it did NOT turn out to well, it tasted a little bland, so spiced it up with hot sauce and it was ok.

That recipe sounds pretty bland. Not even good chili powder could improve it I don't think.

The best chili you can buy off the shelf is Busch's. It's like a meal in itself.

That was the recipe Mel gave in that eppi, and his Chili is supposed to be GREAT, even though they joke about it. His SECRET powder must have been SUPER! He did say "This is what does it!" about the secret powder.

Someone has WAY to much time on their hands. And "hamburger meat" as opposed to what? Hamburger cardboard?

And you can use it to make a chili cheese dog. You might want to keep some alka-seltzer handy too.
