Episode Titles - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Looking through the list of "Three's Company" epsiode titles, it looks like a large number of them are allusions to movies titles, song titles, and so forth. I thought it would be fun to create a list of these. Here are a few:

A Man About the House is the name of the British show upon which Three's Company is based.

Days of Beer and Weeds refers to the Blake Edwards film Days of Wine and Roses.

...And Justice for Jack is based on ...And Justice for All, the Al Pacino movie.

Urban Plowboy is based on the John Travolta movie Urban Cowboy.

Which other ones have you guys found?

1. Lee ain't heavy, he's my brother ...a song by The Hollies
2. Some of that Jazz...a song from the hit show Chicago

I think "The Love Barge" is a play on "The Love Boat"

The title of "Two Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" is based on the book "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (an awesome book, by the way).

"Dates of Wrath" is a play on the words "Grapes of Wrath" (a popular book)

Those are great! Here are a few others:

The Odd Couples is based on The Odd Couple, a movie with Jack Lemmon and Walter Mathau, and a TV series

Cousin, Cuisine is a play on Cousin, Cousine, a French film

A Night Not to Remember is a play on A Night to Remember, a book and movie about the Titanic

Speaking of episode titles, I don't think they ever appeared in the form of a caption before each episode. Do you know any comedy sitcom that actually puts out a caption at the beginning of each episode to indicate the name of the episode? I know that drama series do that sometimes, but I don't know about comedy series. That said, when the series was actually playing, was there any way of knowing the name of the episode? TV Guide, perhaps?

And speaking of captions, I believe the only time they ever appeared in the series was in the form of a "To Be Continued..." in the few two-parties. But what I remember most of all was that on March 15, 1984, at the end of episode "Cupid Works Overtime", the following captions appeared: "To Be Continued Next Fall..."
