Default How do you think they will schedule the fall 06 line up for The CW?

These are all the shows The WB and UPN have:
One On One
All Of Us
Girlfriends
Half & Half
Get This Party Started
South Beach
America's Next Top Model
Veronica Mars
Everybody Hates Chris
Love Inc.
Eve
Cuts
Friday Night Smackdown
Charmed
Blue Collar TV
7th Heaven
Related
Gilmore Girls
Supernatural
One Tree Hill
Smallville
Beauty & The Geek
Everwood
What I Like About You
Living With Fran
Reba
Twins
Pepper Dennis
The Bedford Diaries
Modern Men
Misconceptions

All Together 25 hours not counting shows that are going to end, which means they need to eliminate 12 hours of prgramming and thats if they arn't gonna pick up anything new. So how do you think they will schedule it?

How do you figure they need to eliminate 12 hours of programs? It says the CW network will program 30 hours per week....thats at least 3 hours per night in prime plus some extra hours.....looks like we might see a new network programming past 10PM eastern...if that is the case.....that means BIG changes in the works everywhere bumping 10PM local affliate newscasts.

Also this is big news for many affliates which are branded with UPN or WB status....here in New York...the channels are rountinely called UPN 9 & WB 11....this means changing all graphics, changing program titles like WB morning news, WB afternoon block (which just started) .......it is going to get very interesting...not to mention what happens to the primetime local UPN affliates schedules..........

To all my old time friends.....
I say bring back the "million dollar movie"! to all my fellow new yorkers....morton downey reruns? or maybe the return of "Clint Holmes" If you understand any of that, you have been watching NY TV for a long time!

Pav we want your thoughts.....this is big breaking news indeed!

Pav could probably care less about this. ABC is his network.

Sunday
7-10 - probably new shows or other WB/UPN shows I didn't consider, I picked out the ones I think are most likely to survive the merge

Monday
8 - Everwood (might be last season)
9 - new show

Tuesday
8 - Gilmore Girls (season 7 is expected to be the last year)
9 - America's Next Top Model

Wednesday
8 - One Tree Hill
9 - Veronica Mars

Thursday
8 - Smallville
9 - Supernatural

Friday:
8 - Everybody Hates Chris
8:30 - One On One
9 - Reba (likely last season)
9:30 - Girlfriends

Tuesdays seem to fit like a glove since GG has always been a hit in that timeslot and Top Model has been a 9 pm hit.

Wednesdays is fitting since One Tree Hill and Veronica Mars are teen shows that have adult fans as well and both shows would work together

Thursday would work since Smallville and Supernatural are the only sci-fi shows WB has left and I think they fit well together

Friday would take the typical WB Friday sitcom night but mostly add UPN veterans to the list because Reba is the only WB sitcom that does any good

Sunday could be the night to try out new material.

I explained the time thing in The CW Network Thread, it is also stated in thefutoncritic.com article...

I guess if they stick to the current WB program hours as listed in the other post, then yes that adds up to 30 hours per week......

but if they really want to be considered a network, then why stick to the same hours that technically didn't work......they really need to start programming the 10PM hour....that would be a big step in counter programming and a big move that FOX hasn't the courage to do, even though they produce 2 10PM newcasts in New York, WNYW & WWOR are a duopoly and it has been rumored for years that one newscast would go....oddly the 10PM WPIX newscast always seemed safe.

Yes they probably will stick to the current WB 30 hour schedule, but lets be serious, if you want to be a network, running 10 year old "ER" reruns in the afternoon doesn't count....that would be like ABC running reruns in the afternoon instead of first run soap operas!

BTW, Im not sure if anyone else knows this but Smackdown is as good as gone at the end of the season, upn has played withh wwe's mind about canceling it and this is the last season on the contract and if we see it on any of the 5 networks it would be nbc (not likely but I said that because of the wwe/universal tv deal) so thats another two hours pretty much gone...

outside of Sunday and Friday (I think Friday should be reserved for comedies and Sunday for dramas), our outlook is almost identical. Actually, merging Top Model and Beauty And The Geek together would be a great idea, having one season of each, Top Model in the fall and Beauty And The Geek in the spring, like how Fox only airs American Idol in the spring as not to cause overkill.

well i agreed with alot of your points. I do think OTH and Veronica belong together and I always thought it was a mistake to pair up gilmore girls and supernatural...

I never understood why Supernatural followed Gilmore Girls, I almost wonder if it was in part because Jared Padalecki was a Gilmore Girls cast member for awhile and what better way than to introduce a new show starring a former Gilmore Girls actor than to have it follow Gilmore. At least it has paid off because Supernatural has already become a smash for the WB, I just think Smallville would be a much better companion piece to it because it and Gilmore Girls are completely different genres.

8:00-Smallville
9:00-Aquaman (If it still happens)
10:00-Supernatural

I hope that Gilmore Girls, Everwood, Reba, One Tree Hill, Supernatural, Veronica Mars, and Everybody Hates Chris will be on The CW. As long as they are....I'm set!
