I've always loved Looney Tunes. My favorites are Wile E. Coyote, Marvin the Martian, Daffy Duck, Foghorn Leghorn, and Speedy Gonzalez.

Probably the flat-out coolest cartoon series ever.

I got all 3 volumes. They did a great job on them. Porky is my favorite. You can't dislike Porky.

Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies cartoon shorts brought a lot of happiness and
hilarious moments to many generations of people. The fact that it has been a
staple of television programming for decades (not to mention the prime-time
ABC series THE BUGS BUNNY SHOW and several seasons on Saturday morning
on both ABC and CBS; and all the prime-time TV specials) is proof that it
deserves a spot on the message boards. Heck, the Looney Tunes gang
practically invented situation-comedy!

Bugs was funniest when he was (in his words) "a stinker."

I have transfered The Golden Age of Looney Tunes Volume 1-4 Laserdiscs to DVD. Some of those cartoons are pretty controversial like "Herr Meets Hare" and "Bugs Bunny Nips The Nips".

Was the Looney Pepe Lepew Controversial?

I don't know. I have the first cartoon of him, though. In it his name was "Henry" (Not Pepé Le Pew). He was first introduced in a 1945 cartoon called "Oder-Able Kitty".

I have volume 2 of the "Golden Collection" except volume 1 of the "Spotlight Collection". I would get both volumes 1 and 3 of the "Golden Collection" soon.

Yep! That cartoon was from the "Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie" directed by the late Chuck Jones. In 1981, Daffy and Porky returned for the sequel called "Duck Dodgers And The Return Of The 24th In A Half Century". It was not a theatrical short, it was a made-for-TV short as featured on the TV special "Daffy Duck's Thanks For Giving".

On Oct. 26, 1977, CBS aired BUGS BUNNY'S HOWL-OWEEN SPECIAL, which was
comprised of "Bedeviled Rabbit" and "Rabbit Every Monday" and clips from eight
other cartoons, incl. "Beep Beep," "Canned Feud" and Trip for Tat." It was
repeated five times on the network.

BUGS BUNNY'S VALENTINE TV special aired on CBS for the first time on Feb. 14,
1979. In the unusual role of "cupid," Elmer Fudd strikes love into the heart
of Bugs Bunny, who experiences the fresh bloom of romance through a series
of classic Warner cartoons, complete and edited, strung together in one
common theme.

In fact, Bugs starred in at least 14 prime-time TV specials in the 1970s and
1980s, on the CBS network. All of these shows combined classic and new
animation (sometimes seamlessly, sometimes not so seamlessly). For
example: in BUGS BUNNY'S MAD WORLD OF TELEVISION, it is pretty obvious
where they substitute (in Porky's dialogue) the words "TV quiz show" for
"radio quiz show."

But, to answer your question, I can't think of a specific theatrical short that
was tied to either holiday.
